Why does our Club Shop have no stock?

Jeez ! The rat still strikes us where it hurts

I'm pretty sure COSU will have been involved in Keeping Macron this season. It came up at the meet the consortium night.

I just posted this in the other thread:

I was concerned at the meet the consortium evening when kits were mentioned.

There was a smattering of disdain from the crowd, Tom was very, very defensive of Macron and was a bit put out by the feedback.

Appreciate we were bang in trouble at that point so a deal probably had to be done to ensure we had something.

However, if they have agreed to anything longer than this season with Macron, that's potentially a very bad decision from the club.

SUFC want our feedback and the feedback is resounding.

To quote the late, great Owen Hart:

"Enough is enough and it's time for a change"

Unless the contact is broken we have another year yet. Hopefully Macrom get there arse in gear. The club even on a percentage of sales after the up front dosh must be losing a lot of money.

I guess we are just a small nothing in the huge company they are.

Sooner we bin them off the better. In all honesty Macron have been **** since day one. Massively undercooking stock levels and a limited basic range. Probably partly due to Ratty to be fair. But still, it’s been poor this season too. Puma were rumoured to be taking over last summer, but for whatever reason we stuck with Macron, regrettably.

That's not great news. I wonder if the club has a case of breach of contract re availability. Probably not.

It is a shame because Macron were poor in the first season.

I'd much rather consistent and interesting club shop stock than Gourmet burgers,

Agreed if the club shop had stock it would be fairly simple for me to buy all my grandsons all their Christmas presents, so there is probably £400 they have binned from just one person.

I seem to remember some boos when it was announced that Macron would be continuing at the cliffs meet consortium event - almost a year ago now so memory fading but I don't recall them saying new shop supplier forthcoming. Guess it needs to fit in with the new shirt development cycle and existing contracts, which may have not given them enough time to make changes for the 24/25 season
Actually was there a mention of seeing if they could bring in another, additional, supplier to supplement products that Macron couldn't supply? Seem to recall Justin mentioning a doggy bandana or something - or was that some dodgy dream I had?

It's not just the lack of kit being the problem imho - it's the lack of "pocket money" items to buy. If a youngster goes to his or her first match, they might get some money from grandparents and want to purchase something as a keepsake. Could be badges, pencils, pens etc. Huge mark up and lots of turnover.

(Could also add hats and scarves to that - oh for a decent baseball cap!)

I remember Justin staying there would be Christmas stock in the shop as he wanted a jumper. I don't think he has much control over an outside company.
We take our upfront money and a percentage of future sales when targets are met which loses Macron money. Figure it out. The deal was done in the Rats days and all he cared about was getting some cash upfront.

I am amazed that Justin does not know the lack of stock already and the horse has well and truly bolted if this is the first time he is taking the issue up. I don't believe that at all and it's a fob off. Another year yet.

I was told last summer (before COSU were involved properly) that the club had hoped to bring the shop back in-house. That way they could control everything.

I’m sure JR was keen on this too, as he mentioned both publicly and privately that if they wanted to sell SUFC shirts in Australia (for example) that would be prohibited under the current contract.

The club shop used to be run in-house but we stopped because someone had over ordered lots of stock and Ron went garrity apparently.

Absolutely - it's not just replica shirts that people want to buy. Lost count of the number of times I have been in the shop pre-match and heard people asking for scarves, they should be basic items in a club shop, along with mugs, bags etc., feel sorry for the staff in there.

Why would they? It was a joke last season too. Macron are ****ing awful. Why are we still with them? Can we break the contract. Absolute embarrassment.

We've begged and begged for this sort of stuff and were promised there would be things in for Christmas.

From our Liaison Meeting Minutes of March this year:

TL went on to say that part of the terms of the new contract, would be to have an increased number of ‘line items’ (currently 30, but to be increased to 50), and that the minimum number of replica kit orders placed by Macron – this should deal with the issues around availability. Special items, such as Christmas jumpers, would also be part of the commitment. There would also be more frequent meetings between Club and Macron representatives to ensure everything is running smoothly and that stock levels are maintained.

Can the Trust have more stuff for sale, for example a 2025 calender? Or would they be prohibited from using squad photos?
I don't think we've ever investigated a calendar, we have tried to get a few things in for Christmas but suppliers couldn't meet our required dates so we have some things planned for next Christmas already.
