Why does our Club Shop have no stock?

wildheart

Schoolboy
Since the beginning of the season, I have ventured into the shop wanting to support the club. Eventually last month I managed to get a polo shirt which fitted and was well priced. My buddy has had a shirt on order since September, its crazy. Now with Christmas coming up I tried to get a full kit for my Grandson a junior, all we have is a few sets of socks and shorts in away colours. Surely making a few quid and getting our young folk flying our colours locally is a priority? I've now ordered (begrudgingly) a Barcelona Training kit which he wants. The app shop is hopeless ta boot. I feel for the young people working in the shop on a home game they seemed embarrassed that the stock is so poor unless you want a 5xxxl shirt!

Totally agree on this.

I know it has been mentioned in other threads but it is just ridiculous, particularly for the kids stuff. My nephews want 2 shirts so that they can wear them with pride where they live in Switzerland but I will have to disappoint them because there is hardly anything in the club shop. I know someone else who rang up today about kids stuff but again kits are like gold dust.

I haven't listened to the podcast with Justin Rees but was this raised at all? I would think this would be an absolute priority. Is the deal with Macron only for a certain amount of stock to be produced? If so they have underjudged it massively.

This question has been covered on another thread to the death. It's not the staff's fault and the issue sits with the suppliers. This was on the agenda at the liaison meeting to be discussed, and I would suggest emailing the club via the feedback email. The more people that do this, the more weight is added to the discontent. COSU will be interested, as it's losing them money.

I'm told John Watson is the man scrutinising the figures, and has already implemented things to balance the books a bit more. He's well into decreasing outgoings, and increasing incomings. I hope he knows that fans want to buy stuff from the shop, but can't. Especially with Christmas coming up.

that's why the feedback form was created

Absolutely, the present suppliers are not coming through for the fans or club it’s a complete joke, it needs changing asap.

I would suggest the shop staff as the best sales team in football, regularly hitting their targets. Selling nothing for nothing week in week out ..... can't really ask much more!

It was mentioned at the meet the consortium evening that a new supplier for the shop would be forthcoming.

We then signed an extension with Macron. So what changed? I'm guessing the time it took to complete the takeover will be blamed

I seem to remember some boos when it was announced that Macron would be continuing at the cliffs meet consortium event - almost a year ago now so memory fading but I don't recall them saying new shop supplier forthcoming. Guess it needs to fit in with the new shirt development cycle and existing contracts, which may have not given them enough time to make changes for the 24/25 season

Again no slight on the staff themselves, but ordered a shirt as a gift for family member, just to be informed that Macron had not supplied that shirt in their last batch.

The staff in the shop were able to arrange an alternative option, so I have no issue with them.

Shockingly poor from Macron and hope we drop them from next season onwards.
only if we can buy ourselves out of our last year with them

Do you think the demand has gone up since COSU has come in and that's not been taken into account? Or, as I see it, stock availability has always seemingly been poor with Macron ....

I personally think they had their fingers burnt last season when we nearly went bang and they under-estimated the new owner 'bounce'.

Lets not forget COSU only really took over from July, by then Macron probably already had their forecasts / predictions in, which were obviously lower than expectations.

This is just my opinion - no insider info.

Without doubt the demand went up as they sold 2000 shirts in the first few weeks. That is no excuse for Macron as they have had half a season to put it right.

So I've just spoken to Justin and in short, he is scheduling a meeting with Macron.

I passed on the comments regarding Christmas and he said "not sure what Xmas will be - will cover in the call".

He also said:

"Please tell fans to email specifics to feedback@.... as we will 100% review it all pre macron meeting".
I remember Justin staying there would be Christmas stock in the shop as he wanted a jumper. I don't think he has much control over an outside company.
We take our upfront money and a percentage of future sales when targets are met which loses Macron money. Figure it out. The deal was done in the Rats days and all he cared about was getting some cash upfront.

I am amazed that Justin does not know the lack of stock already and the horse has well and truly bolted if this is the first time he is taking the issue up. I don't believe that at all and it's a fob off. Another year yet.
