Who will be in the England squad?

Beefy

Life President
Only a few weeks to go and seen people's fantasy squads a couple of threads now so figured we'd get a thread going about it.

Sky have a nice squad picker on their site. My squad is below:
http://www1.skysports.com/FIFA-Worl...ctor/5764361c9e6a99ff53846dfbbfb4409ac950dd60

Interesting to see the current most popular squad as voted by the public is:
Forster
Foster
Hart

Johnson
Walker
Baines
Shaw
Cahill
Jagielka
Jones

Barkley
Gerrard
Henderson
Lallana
Lampard
Milner
Oxlade-Chamberlain
Stirling
Wilshere

Lambert
Rooney
Sturridge
Welbeck

Surprised to see LAmpard make the cut but Cole not.

Sounds like Jones could be a doubt after injuring his shoulder last night. That would be a big blow purely because of his versatility.

Indeed. Jones would probably be first choice RB cover, CB cover and he could even play in a defensive midfield role if desperate for that.

If he's out, then that leaves Smalling offering RB cover and CB cover, or you take a dedicated RB cover (hopefully Walker is fit) and dedicated CB cover (Dawson? Davis?)

Lennon might be a bit controversial. Is he actually playing at the moment? Am struggling for wingers given Townsends and Walcott's injuries.

Opening the door for John Stones? He is certainly better than Dawson

Are we going to play out and out wingers? We might, but Roy might take Milner to sure up one side, and Sturridge and Welbeck have both been deployed out wide in recent games.

Isn't Corr Irish?

He probably is better than Dawson but he's 19 and only played a handful of Everton games. Dawson is slow, but he's organised, a talker and if called upon would drop into the match no problem.

It's probably come just a little too early for Stones this time around.

Wont be many surprises. Our defence looks very weak, the centre of midfield strong but the wide areas with Townsend and Wallcott injured look weak. Up front, once again the team will no doubt be built around an unfit Rooney who will do bugger all. Be nice if Roy took a bit of a gamble but cant see it.

Hopefully not as that would probably mean we are chasing a game but I'd want the option, be it wide up front in a 4-3-3 or a more traditional 4-4-2.

Townsend has been a huge player for England in the last 12 months and is a huge loss, particularly with no Walcott.

Ideally I'd like one pacey winger and one target man just as a Plan B to use off the bench.

playing a 4231 formation Lallana, Sterling and Ox on either side of the 3 I don't think is weak. I wouldn't have Townsend getting in the side above those 3 even if he was fit. Walcott is a loss but the form of Sterling means it's not so bad.

Oxlade-Chamberlain and Stirling can provide the pace on the flanks. Both are more than just pure wingers but could play there if needed.

Walcott is the huge miss, for me. I still think he's our most effective player.

23 man squad to be names on Monday 12th. How about a little competition, no prizes - list your 23 here by midnight Sunday.

It's the 30 man squad which is named on Monday I think? The 23 doesn't need to be named for a few weeks yet.
