Who's going to replace The Goat?

SUBBlue

Manager
Perhaps it's a bit early for this thread as Shaun has yet to officially leave the club, but I wonder if Tilly/Brush have a realistic idea of who we could replace him with.

IMO,we ideally need someone who can hold the ball up as Goater does & who Fred can play off.

My Dad reckons we should swoop for Billy Sharp, Beckett or Hayter. But as I pointed  out there's not too many sides who with 2 out-&-out goal getters in their lineup. (Swansea notwithstanding)

Owusu,Byfield,Fallon,Agogo??
I reckon Tilly has got to sign 2 Forwards for Championship footy. What do you chaps reckon?

My money is n byfield to be one triker coming in but he isn't a target man. Fallon would of been ideal but won't leave swansea now/swansea won't sell him for cheap. it is going o be the biggest challange of the summer unless Tilson's knows something we don't!

We were extremely lucky this season that our 4 strikers managed to miss different parts of the season. If Wayne Gray had got his injury at the same time as Eastwoods ban we would have been in trouble so with the Goat going we probably need 2 minimum.
How about an older guy on his way to retirement with a bit of higher league experience.
Ferguson just got released from Everton. Would certainly add some aggression to the front line.

need someone who has experiance like the goat who eastwood can learn off... will be interesting to see who he brings in.

Duncan Disorderly & Fred.
Beauty & the Beast (in football terms).

Food for thought, perhaps Tilly can arrange a trial Vs Col Ewe.

Even if it doesn't work we can guarantee that Ferguson will maim at least 4 of their lot in readiness for next season

I'm sure Tilly will have started looking and enquiring. When has he ever let us down?

Not a big fan of Big Dunc to say the least.

I would suggest Geoff Horsfield or Kevin Campbell.

The former is not wanted at Sheff U, and the latter will leave the Albion this summer at the end of his contract. Both are target men with bags of experience and very decent players at Championship level. Still a season left for Cambell and one or two more than that for Horsfield.

Big Dunc would certainly replace the Goat for cult status. Got Goater on the back of my home shirt coz of this. That one's a non starter tho coz he wouldnt move south and we couldnt afford his wages so...

I never thought of Kev Cambpell. Now that would be a good signing for me at this level. I suppose it depends if players are prepared to come here on low wages but big bonuses.

I'm sure I read somewhere he was on £20,000 a week at West Brom!

Be serious!

That's true 'Einstein'.  But when he is released from Albion he will be on £0 per week and no Premier$hite clubs are going to come in for him.  And you must be on something if you think Campbell's next contract - wherever it is - will be even half that.  And he will probably be moving back down south.  It's a very serious possibility if Tilson rates him and would like to bring him in.

completely off tangent, I know, but many years ago, the catering manager at Highbury when Campbell was there was a Spurs fan, and he became Kevin Campbell's best mate. Last I heard he was catering manager for Reed Employment

Good shout, he should gone to Brighton in Jan 2006, but change his mind in last minute as he feel that Brighton got no chance of staying up. He looking to move to club nearer where he live, he based in Surrey.

noel-williams has been offered a contract by plymouth and gillingham have offered a contact again to byfield but will he sign it?

Would have to be Paul Hayes for me. He would really link up well with Eastwood
