I've voted for promotion, but it's close. I love the FA Cup, and hate that it's only usually spoken of as a money-spinner nowadays. On those days I couldn't care less about finance. Actually, finance never tickles my fancy, but there you go. I'll never forget the Liverpool tie, and the ticket stub tells me that I paid £1.

On balance, the idea of us going up while Colchester go down is mouth-watering.

Then we could get Orient away and get peanuts.

How much would being in League Two for another season cost us ? That alone could be nearly a million in income.

I'm not totally convinced league 1 is THAT fantastic. A few weeks ago when our crowd was just above 5 thousand i looked at the attendances at all the Div 1 matches .... our Div 2 attendance that day was better than 9 out of the 12 div1 fixtures !!!! Ok there will always be 3 or 4 nice big teams there but the rest is much the same as the bottom league...

I assume you are kidding right?
Still gutted didn't get to go to Anfield last season - that would remain with you for a lifetime something like that.
Would love to beat Oxford and get the O's over two legs and then onto wembley. Bit worried we are about to go on a bit of a dodgy spell to be honest so think promotion is the most likely out of the three but if I'm pressed I would go for a big team away in the 4th round.

Whatever other attendances are like in that league the thing to remember is our attendances will go up. Rather than scrape 5,000 we will get 6,000.

1000 extra tickets 23 times a year + the extra TV money gives quite a big difference in income.

Of course promotion is the 'brain' choice.

But come on...Southend...at Wembley...if you're heart doesn't beat a bit faster when you think about that then you're probably dead.

Long-term, the obvious choice is promotion, but it would be hard to say no to the chance of going to Wembley or getting a draw to visit Anfield or Old Trafford. What a day out those will be!

Wembley would be great, but its likely to be against a league one side and we would get beaten.

Getting beaten at Wembley isnt as good as winning promotion for me. To be honest Id be hard pushed to choose winning at Wembley in the JPT over promotion either.

Now if its winning the FA Cup, I would settle for that

I understand what you are saying, but dispute the maths We would need an increase of at least 2500 to make up the million, on top of that our wage bill would ahve gone up . I also said well in excess of a million . The actual fairy tale Man u figure would be £3 million divided by 2 less their expenses. Even if match day expenses were £200,000 which I can't see we would pocket £1.4 million, which is a ball park crowd increase 3500 every match

Oll to dream

Oh god I've got deja vu from this time last year

We were out of the Cup and JPT in December though?

Personally. I'd go for promotion. That's more important for the long term future of the club than one game against the likes of Arsenal possibly could be. The JPT would be nice, but we can win it next year and besides. If we went up via the play-offs, that's cover Wembley.

Where do you get that figure from?

We would be looking at around £125k from TV revenue, and even if 70,000 tickets are sold, they won't be sold at £40 a go and more like £25. Total revenue being around £1.75m, less the £200k match day expenses and we get 45% (FA get 10% IIRC) of the rest. Take VAT off that and we are left with over £550,000 which would still be a very handy amount to have!

TV revenue etc is much better in League One, thats on top of any increase in attendance.

Plus all being well you get that income the year after for as long as you dont get relegated, compared to a one off from the cup.

A cup game away to Arsenal or Man Utd would be a massive instant boost, but promotion is better for the club long term.

Yet promotion has always been what's screwed the club in the past.

Promotion for the club, but for me personally, Wembley. Love to go there, I can get there relatively easily, and let's face it, everyone loves a cup final.

Promotion too league one defiantly for me.Cups and trip too wembley a nice bonus but league is most important.Who knows we may end up with 2 wembley trips a big team in FA cup and promotion!
