Ok , i'll give you just 3 scenarios , obviously i hope we get all 3 , but choose just 1 that you would prefer :

1 Win through to next round of FA cup + get a top draw in 4th round ( eg Arsenal/Man U/Man C away)
2 Win through to final of JPT and getting to see Southend finally play at Wembley Stadium
3 Promotion to league 1

3 every time.

No point having a game at Arsenal or Wembley if it means being in this league for another year.

Taking for granted that the league is the No.1 option, the real question is which of the cupmatches would you prefer to win:

Beat Brentford and have the chance of a big draw, but relistically there would be probably 8 great draws and 23 duff/alright ones.
Or beat Oxford and have a 50/50 on the dream trip to Wembley/humilation of losing in the area final to possibly Borient?

DoDtS

Quite frankly anyone who says option 1 or 2 is a fool.....

Really ? I dunno , having been lucky enough to see 40 years of Blues games and seeing several promotions ( often swiftly followed by relegation ) .... but you can never take away the memories of a massive 1 off cup match. We are one of a handful of clubs who have never appeared at Wembley + i ve enjoyed watching Billericay Town + Daggers triumph there , but watching Southend play at Wembley has long been a dream for me , so foolish maybe , but i ll go for option 2

For our Club, FA Cup, more money involved in winning and progressing in the FA Cup surely isnt there.

I'll be a fool then. I'd take a day at Wembley in the final of the JPT over the rest. I'll watch my team play in whatever division they are in but in 40 years of following my team, I've not had the dream of watching them at the home of football.

Poll added for you.

I'm leaning towards the FA Cup over Wembley.

Promotion is third in my list and is only still in the running because that guarantees something tangible out of the season whereas the first two only give us an opportunity to do something we'll remember for a lifetime.

To win the JPT at Wembley would **** all over finishing 2nd or 3rd this season.

Option 3 for me.

We've had the big FA Cup game against Chelsea. Loved it at the time, but unless you win there're no bragging rights just the memory of losing to a top ranked team.

We've had two trophy finals at the Millenium Stadium. Would be great to add Wembley to that, but we'd arguably stand a better chance of success from League 1

Promotion would last for at least a year. It'd also give an increase to the club's income. As a league 1 club we'd be better able to sign players/hold on to our better ones. It'd also mean that if the **** hit the fan, and we got deducted points, we'd only get relegated to league 2 rather than conference.

I might be a fool as well then . To me this is not clear cut as it partially depends who we play.

If we got to play a small team in the FA cup and got beat, then off course I would wish that I had taken promotion , however…….. in my dream world -----We still understandably go on about beating Manu- probably more so than automatic promotion.
Can you imagine how many years (decades) we would go on about it, if we got them away and won ! Especially if it was sell out, which generates around £3 million in ticket sales - and we get half after expenses ! That cash could be more valuable to us than a promotion as would the memories.

Likewise if we won at Wembley I would take that over promotion, but If we lost I would rather have promotion -- Would I take the gamble--- I’m not sure but probably yes

dont forget the posisible massive pay day from the FA cup. If we got Manu away and it was a sell out (possible as the publicity machine would go into overdrive hopefully based on our last game) then we would get well in excess of £1million from the match

Option 3 please. Lets get out of this god foresaken league and start moving up the leagues.

If it was a cup choice only, I'd go for FA Cup in the hope of a real money spinner to help the clubs finances. (Hastings away?)

A trip to Wembley would,of course, be great but having been to the Millenium 3 times, you'd soon forget about it.

By the way, the promotion would be to Divison 1 and not Division 3. Someone is still talking in old money!

Then we could get Orient away and get peanuts.

How much would being in League Two for another season cost us ? That alone could be nearly a million in income.
