There was a time in the early 60s where along with Bournemouth and B FC we were the only clubs to have played at the same level, Div 3, throughout their history in the League. Every other club had played in at least 2 different levels.

We of course changed that in 1966 when we got relegated and Bournemouth followed the season after. We then sat in a group of clubs that had never won a promotion until 1972ā€¦..

I voted the Pier but if the question was whats most associated with Southend United FC i would have said Embargoes. Back in my younger days itwas definitely the Kursaal , Pier and Cockles ,Whelks and Jellied Eels.

NeverNeverLand, Peter Panā€™s Playground, boating lake, Waverley, Westcliff Swimming Baths, Cream and Green Pier Trains, the old Pier Head, Bowling Alley.

The Odeon, Classic and a whole host more.

And when a fast food burgers only option was Wimpy!
"Friday, it was off to the Classic/Cannon in Westcliff for the first ever showing in England of 'The Glen Miller Story' (1954) with the soundtrack transferred from it's original American release in 4-track magnetic sound into Dolby Stereo"
