What would you do if you were Justin Rees

stewart

Striker
First thing i would do Monday morning is to sack Maher, Go after someone like Coughlan who is doing wonders at Boston,* I said someone like him * maybe not him as im not a fan of hiring ex players, I would give Dmim the caretakers job till end off the season maybe ,hes done the job once before whilst COSU look for a replacement. Well respected by the players too maybe he can get a tune out of them for the last 4 matches .We havent won more than 2 games in a row this season,we now need to win the last 4 to have any chance off making the playoffs ,we sure as hell wont do that under Maher.

COSU won't do anything. They have a plan and promotion at this point isn't top of the list. Sustainability is the word, I'm afraid we are in thus league for thd long haul.
Well if that’s true I’ll have to make my own plans about renewing my season card because i won’t be giving over a large wedge of money to watch a club who’s idea is not to try for promotion just yet, I should ****ing cocoa.

Instruct Kev that his recruitment has been abysmal recently, other than Parillion and KAF - who he refused to play for yonks.

Say he can't get anyone until he ships out rotters like Bonne and Hopper and see what miracle buys he can get with a full preseason. I'd not give him 50p to spend

If I was JR , the 3 amigos would be on the next EM spaceship to mars.
Seriously now, Kev must have approved these signings and most of them have been gash. Manager’s judgment is poor.
Reality tells me the 3 of them will be here in August . Unless there is a serious upgrade on the playing side , we will be having the same conversation in 12 months time.

Literally garbage, if you think COSU don't want promotion 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes they are making great strides to stabilise the club...which was destroyed just to be clear. They will in the summer give kev and Co, for the first time in their stint as managers/coaches a full on stable summer of tranfer dealings. Meaning we can actually sign good players, have a really good pre season and have a real go next season.
Then and only then can we 100% judge kev and Co on purely football matters. And if its not working then the collection of very successful business men that run the club will make changes needed.

One word in reply: embargo. We were left with the leftovers.

I didnt say they didn't want promotion, it's just not the top of their list. Rebuilding roots hall will come first, and turning it into a sustainable club. If we got promotion with the current budget, result. But I don't think we are going to see big expenditure on the playing side for a while.

There is enough evidence over the years that Maher and Co simply do not have what it takes to get us out of this hellhole. Time and time again we have seen promising positions frittered away by negative tactics, poor team selection and substitutions that don't make sense. This season the inconsistency has been worse than ever, exacerbated by poor signings and the usual stubborness in persisting with players clearly not up to their responsibilities such as strikers who can't score being just one example. Lack of creativity always a problem and I fear for Parillon, for example, as he is far too imaginative and creative to fit into Maher's preferred style of possession at all costs. If COSU can't see that we are going nowhere until they act decisively and get rid, then there is really no hope. The mediocrity of this league, where any team can beat another on the day, requires outstanding management in order to escape. We haven't got that in Maher and Co.

Who would you have played up front today? Walker? A half fit Kendall? We don’t have out and out goalscorers. Had we not had a transfer embargo we might’ve signed Ollie Pearce, who .. incidentally.. scored a hat trick for York today.

I would venture Dean Bennan is far from outstanding.
After all, it's taken four years to get Barnet to where they are now. Yes, they've been in the play-off picture during that time, but so have we.
Brennan has suffered none of the shackles our current management has faced.
In fact, scroll back through the successful NL managers over the last four seasons, and I venture Sutton are the one outlier without cash.
And look what subsequently happened to them.

I have no in the know info. But I suspect there could be scope to increase the playing budget - alot of cashflow this season has gone on debt repayments, that should be easing now. I'd hope that some of that cash outflow can be used for playing budget and some towards balancing the books. Hopefully also the increased match day revenue can also contribute. We won't be doing a Wrexham or FGR but I'd hope we can start being more competitive, as well as timely, in the transfer market.

Transfer embargo is history. Signings of 'strikers' who don't score is down to Maher. We have a quartet in Bonne, Hopper, Walker and Kendall who couldn't score in the proverbial but were all his choices.

The embargo was seven months ago.
The strikers Maher wanted were long gone by September onwards. But I agree, they're not very good.
That's what happens without cash and access.
