What would you do if you were Justin Rees

It might just be worth giving a thought to the pressures that Maher has been under for the last 3 years. We have no idea what is going on behind the scenes, especially on the financial side, where he maybe thought he had X to play with, and ended up with Y. Keeping it together mentally and sending out teams that may not of been of his ideal choosing would quite likely get to him more than a bit. The Maher arm waving and giving a bit back to the gobsh1tes is. without doubt, a indicator of the pressure. Open season next season, by all means if we are not on it from the start, but for now he's our man. And this, I think, is COSU's view as well.
The pressures Kevin Maher has been under for the last three years are an irrelevance. He’s a role model, or at least he ought to be. There are loads of kids in the stadium on match day. Do we want them listening to the boss of our team effing and blinding? Do I want to listen to him effing and blinding? If Mr Maher finds the pressures too much, he should resign. I think he should anyway. He does not have the flair, the tactical awareness, the motivational ability to get us promoted.

You can't question his motivational ability. Just look at last season and the beginning of this. If Kevin didn't have motivational skills, we would be playing in the Conference South. I suppose you have the skills to do a better job ? I suspect not.

Bearing in mind what he did last season, does that give the right for the fans to shout and swear at him every game? I'm assuming they must be, because otherwise he'd have no-one to respond to.

What about the language used by the fans towards Maher, because it won't be "I say, Kevin old chap, some of our players aren't really performing, why don't you take a couple of them off as it's not their day and give the subs a go?". It'll be more like " For ****'s sake Maher you ****, get that ****ing donkey off, he's ****ing useless, and ****ting well tell that ****er striker to ****ing shoot rather than walk the ball in the ****ing net."

Or words to that effect, you get my point I'm sure. When I used to take my young kids I sat in the family stand in the West for that very reason, even though all my mates sat in the East Blacks. That's what the family stand is for.
My abiding memory of my Family Stand days is the whole block, on a fair few occasions, joining in with gusto on much-loved "the referee's a w...er" chant. My youngest, who only went a couple of times, did slightly mis-hear thankfully as he asked my why everyone was calling the ref a 'waffle'. New chant duly learned for the following Monday in nursery school.

The thing i find about those that say give Kev a preseason and lets see how we going after 10 games or end off October is that if then he is sacked and a new manager bought in ,its like preseason all over again but this time it not friendlies its league games and learning new tactics etc,not having the players he wanted but ones KM signed ,players that may not suit the ne managers tactics / formations etc, Yes its worked at Boston but not too often it works ,you get the new manager syndrome where for 2 or 3 games its good as the players strive to show there ability ,then normally that fades and we are back to square 1 .

Sadly over the course of the last 20 years or so, more and more people have been emboldened into speaking their minds and saying whatever they like, whenever they like, without fear of reprisals & consequences. Whether that’s online or from the safety of a crowd.

Kev has had to put up with plenty of ****, just as every manager does, but sometimes it’s gone well past the line.

Like the time he was harangued and abused by some “fans” whilst trying to exit the stadium and get into his car with his wife and young kids.

So frankly, I’m not surprised he’s a bit prickly at times. And honestly, I’m all for this approach. I was always taught that you don’t dish it out if you can’t take it back. I wish more footballers/managers/pundits would do it, instead of these carbon copied, robotic, clean-cut wet lettuces that have sanitised the sport.
And that's an issue that maybe the Club should look at. Remember when Stan was verbally ambushed by some young lads? Maybe some of the stewards ought to be employed for a little longer to allow safe passage. The gates on the lower concourse outside the East Stand used to be shut and manned after a match, between the steps by the Shrimpers Bar and just past Reception. This allowed safe passage and stopped the melee outside the players' entrance and exit. I don't get why the same people stand there before and after every single match! But they do, and it's quite easy for a few idiots to mingle in.

Good reason not to sack him then.

Show him the door after the testimonial and get a new coaching team in well before pre season. We can't afford to waste time and get off to another slow start. Need to hit the ground running next season.

This, a thousand times over. If you don't want your kids to be corrupted by the odd sweary word, then please sit in the Family Stand, there's plenty of space both in the West Stand section and the South Lower.

To be clear I know I made the point about my son coming to the game and hearing the swearing etc but my issue was more directed at the manager. I think he should be held to a higher standard as a representative/figure head of the club. Right now our manager has very low standards in that regard and we should expect better.

I know times have changed considerably but as a kid i found the chants and the language and energy quite electrifying, raw and emotional, my dad didnt seem to mind at all and it was just a given that i wouldnt be coming home and calling everyone a ****er in real life as thats not how i was bought up. 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Rugbys not my game but i have been to a big game and seeing all the fans politely mingling together engrossed in their headphones with the referee talking did nothing for me. .

Call it wrong by todays standards but i love the fact that for 90 minutes you can let things go (without truly crossing the line) and be completely engrossed by a live spectacle that stirs emotions.

Are you really claiming that Maher randomly swears at fans?

I sit in the East Greens, quite near him, and I still await my turn. Looking forward to it.

It is ok concede one point, rather than dig in relentlessly with whataboutery and daft claims.
I would happily concede if I thought I was wrong, if a fan boo’s at Maher is that considered abuse?? He turned and swore at the fans after that on Saturday. That’s a fact. Sorry if I’m questioning ‘king kev’
