What was Peter Clarke doing?

It was just Hooper and Alan Mac. Regardless of they were unware of the stoppage of the game, it was shocking they couldn't put the ball away
Yes, I agree but I still think their defenders did bloomin' well to get themselves back and in the right places to deal with Hooper's initial shot.

I cannot believe the post from the Daggers ****. I saw the the whole thing. If Roberts didn't make contact then it wasn't for the lack of trying. It certainly wasn't head to head contact, it was a proper, at best a crap head butt. he definitely tried to butt Clarke properly. Even I could see that from 60-70 yards away!!

i think the Daggers "****" who was 20 yards away from the incident had a better view than you mr Shrimp. It wasnt really a butt, but he motioned and deserves to go for that. Clarke will be embarrassed by what he has done and it left a sour taste. The other poor thing from a Dagenham point of view is that the ref didnt see what happened, he just went on the reaction. If he hadnt been ball watching, Clarke also would have walked both for the initial kick and then the shove. If he had bothered to consult his linesman, who you would have to think saw the whole thing, we might now be talking about a replay. We are not and good luck to you in the next round, just no good wishes to Mr Clarke!!!!

He should have played McCormack in when Macca had 20 yards of space right in front of goal.

Two of them definitely tracked back, one with Hooper and one to the goal line behind him. It was right in front of us.

I was surprised that Clarke wasn't sent off. I'm not sure that I caught the start of the handbags, which continued for some time, but I reckon Clarke could have gone twice and the keeper three or four times!

I wouldn't be too upset with Clarke if I was you, he made mistakes for both of your goals and that shot which just cleared the bar. Risking a penalty was possibly the most brainless thing I've seen on a football pitch for a long time and I can't believe that our fans are so accepting of it.

Personally I think we could have done with Clarke getting a 3 game ban for violent conduct.

We all know Peter Clarke can be a bit of a hot head. Personally, I thought he was lucky not to go himself, the shove alone was enough.

Thanks for that. You've basically confirm what I wrote.

I did wonder about the push by Clarke & whether its a red card. If it is then the Swansea game yesterday would have been a 5 a side match!!

I think Clarke had the ache all game, which stemmed from a deliberate elbow he received from Nurse in the first minute, which a lot of ref's in the past have red carded. He certainly made sure Nurse got to know what the view is like from the South Lower, soon afterwards. The ref was weak & allowed a lot of fouls go, he was like a frightened rabbit in the headlights!

BTW, Nurse won't be at D & R for long. He's far too good for that level.

No idea what went on, was too busy looking at our hapless attempt to score into a keeper-less net.

But if Clarke did feign injury/push Roberts then Tilly should act for the good of the team and the club as a whole.

Personally I would favour dropping Clarke for the next round, especially if we get a plum tie v one of the top four premiersh*te mob. Might make him think again and would send out the right message.

I didn't see the incident very well other than Roberts on the floor and then Clarke. I was rather hoping that Roberts had been baulked when trying to get back and had over reacted.
I would hope that a professional player, considering the score and the position of play would not have even thought about doing anything which may give a completely unnessecary penalty away, so if Clarke has committed a foul (regardless of whether he has penalised or not) I feel that the management should have a word. Also if he has play acted to get someone sent off. "The someone did it to us so its ok" mentality is wrong , the game should be played in a certain way and if others don't do it we should rise above it , not sink to their level. If Clarke did feign contact, I would expect him to be condemned for it on here , especially considering the venom directed at Duguid and Thornton and even some of the comments after the Leon Clarke headbutt.
Incorrect and ill informed posts are one thing but hypocrites are are a different matter
