What was Peter Clarke doing?

Comments like that from Cliffs shows how far Southend have sunk as a Club really. People like Clarke are pondlife and I hope he receives a career threatening injury in the near future.

I was actually trying to point out that no team has or will be totally innocent of this, so be careful what you say, it may come back to haunt you. And that goes for your "career threatening injury" comment too. Grow up.

Dagenham aren't whiter than white either. Remember Saunders' really rubbish dive in the South-West corner early in the first half? Hammell was nowhere near him.

That is a great attitude......I hope I meet you in a dark alley one night, I would love to give you a good kicking and end whatever career you have!!!!

(Obviously only said in jest, but I would not want any player to suffer a career threatening injury, and anyone that comes on here spouting that sort of Sh!t CANNOT call themselves a football fan and MUST be banned from this site...It is a FOOTBALL forum, after all)

I totally missed the incident because the watching Hooper steaming up the other end but my old man said that Clarke didn't go down?

Well said DWB. Was about to post something similar, without the threat of violence!!

Totally agree, ar**h**les like that we can do without!!!

Most players cheat in some way or another. Bailey I'm afraid is another who, lets say, goes down a bit easily and makes a meal of everything.

In my view what is needed is for a panel to view the incident retrospectively and if they find that a player has cheated 100% in order to score, get a penalty or a player sent off or whatever, then a lengthy ban - say 10 games or something like that - should be dished out. This should be in addition to any punishment the ref dishes out if he sees it.

Only when something like that happens will players stop doing it. If they know they are going to be ultimately caught, then they may think twice. Being on the blind side of a ref is one thing... being on the blind side of a camera is another.

yep... for incidents like that, he should captain, shame as i said, he didn't actually properly floor Roberts...

Even if it would have cost us a penalty?

The main point about this thread was to bemoan his stupidity. He got away with it, but on another day that would have been a penalty and we'd have drawn 3-3 (Flahavan is no Collis when it comes to saving last minute penalties against Dagenham).

Forgetting that incident for a while....how about the fact that we broke away while it was going on and totally ****ed up a great opportunity. The whistle may have gone, but none of those involved in the break knew - or the defenders.

We still failed to score!

I cannot believe the post from the Daggers ****. I saw the the whole thing. If Roberts didn't make contact then it wasn't for the lack of trying. It certainly wasn't head to head contact, it was a proper, at best a crap head butt. he definitely tried to butt Clarke properly. Even I could see that from 60-70 yards away!!

Except that was aginst Cheltenham! ;)

Personally I was very disappointed to see Clarke go down in the way he did, especially when you consider the endless discussions we've had about Duguid and Thornton.

agree with this, whether its for us or playing against us i hate any type of diving. ruining the game for everyone.

didn't see the clarke shove or dive?? but if he went down like a little girl without any contact i would be very dissappointed in him. we don't need this sort of thing in our team. its happened to us this season already with thornton and look how much we dis-liked it. players need to be punished for this sort of thing.

To be clear, from what I saw, there was the slightest of contact. The keeper moved his head towards Clarke and to that end probably deserved his red. However, the contact nowhere near merited the theatrics it did, that's what was disappointing.

thanks for that. not something i want to see from anyone in our team.

Like I said earlier, both my son and I definitely saw Clarke use both hands to shove the guy quite hard from where he was facing him. He ended up sat on his rear. I don't know if the alleged headbutt was before or after this as we then turned our attention to the wide open goal at the other end with Hooper, Macca and someone else (MacDonald?) all bearing down on it with two defenders back pedalling fast.

It was just Hooper and Alan Mac. Regardless of they were unware of the stoppage of the game, it was shocking they couldn't put the ball away
