Question What is making you happy today?

Getting a new tattoo in about an hours time, i've been waiting 8/9 months for this after having to postpone it in the summer after I lost my job.

Bought a new printer on the John Lewis web site, and had it delivered to the Waitrose in Southend so that I could pick it up on the way to the ground on Saturday.

It's an all in one printer, and it only took about 20 minutes to set up. It has AirPrint, so now my wife can print from her iPad without having to email it to me for me to print out.

I've even managed to offload the old one to my sister!

Handed my notice in today, plus bonus was the Chair of Govs happened to be in school at the time so I managed to hand him a copy directly instead of hoping school would send it on!

Kay, you've been very vague. What job are you moving too?
Not seen FB today then? :winking: Had to be vague until the resignation had been handed in!

I'm totally changing track, after 14 years paid in education and several before that voluntary, I'm going to be a lettings and sales administrator in an estate agency opening a new office in Benfleet. Very excited about it, a new challenge and really nice people in the team.

Not yet! Blocked at work. Well done again.

No more 13 weeks off a year then!

Best of British luck with the new job.

No, but paid for 52 weeks instead of the 39 that I was as an LSA. That's what people often don't realise about the job I did. Teachers are paid 52 weeks but we're not so while the 13 weeks off might be very nice, it's better to be in a job where you're paid!
Best of British luck with the new job.
Thank you!

Congratulations on the new job and career change Kay.

I've got a new Santas hat that is making me pretty happy today. I haven't taken it off since I bought it. Just hope one of the dogs doesn't nail me tonight when I wear it at work.

Know it's a joke but seriously, no one outside teaching can really understand what the job entails. I remember the state of absolute physical and mental exhaustion I was in at the end of a school year and that was in my early forties. I could see what it was doing to my health and fortunately saw the opportunity to get out. Sometimes I can let a careless comment out when my wife comes home from the Lycée and am then firmly and deservedly reprimanded with, "Don't you remember what teaching was like?".................Oh yes, I certainly do.........I still occasionally have nightmares about it!
