Question What is making you happy today?

Back from a wonderful few days away in Edinburgh, first time visit for us and we really enjoyed our visit. Excellent journey too, travelling with Steam Dreams on vintage carriages, pulled out of Kings Cross by vintage diesel, but switching to Royal Scot for the arrival into (and out of) Edinburgh.

Didn't do any of Steam Dream's tours while we were up there, just did our own thing. Fabulous.

Going to give that look for next year. Thanks for the heads up.

The Cliffs Pavilion has the Rock of Ages Comedy Rock Musical on first week of July. If you book before 1st July then all tickets are 20 quid. (top price otherwise is £47). We have booked!!
I saw Rock of Ages there a few years back and it was excellent!

We did their Capitals Express trip, it was pricey, but a bucket list thing for me to do a long trip by steam train and my treat to us out of my pension fund maturing.

I believe Steam Dreams are doing a 9 day tour to Ireland next year amongst others! Definitely worth getting yourself on their mailing list, many of the others on board are regulars with them and do their trips every year - oh, to have that kind of money!

I've already registered an interest in next year's Edinburgh bash.

Also on that I had a look and We Will Rock You is there in August. I saw that back in 2012 when on my R&R from Afghan. It was excellent! At the time I didn’t realise until my wife pointed out that one of the characters was Curly Watts from Corrie, doubt he’s still in it but I didn’t recognise him.

Did you do a taste test ;)

You wouldn't know, it's the English Channel that flows from the Thames.
Now you have torn it!
I am constantly vexed by water pollution AND that the water companies keep getting away with polluting OUR rivers and seas with no punishment or shame. The bosses of these companies get paid huge 6 figure salaries yet don't care. If a small private company or individual is investigated and prosecuted for toxic water fouling the fines are often huge; rightly.
BUT the main polluter is the "public" service water companies and they rarely are held to account and if they are, the company (us), pay the fines and the bosses swan on unaffected and unashamed.

80% of the Ocean's / sea's polution is by sea creatures, we can't do anything about that, it's nature. I agree, the plastic is a big thing for me. I bought some ear buds a few months ago and they're all paper, years ago, I would have put plastic ones down the toilet, not now. People do care, but we can only do so much. I see all the recycling bins out each week, you can't say we're not trying to do our bit.

As for water companies, I really don't know enough about them.

I did a volunteering day with an ex-company cleaning the Thames foreshore at Erith.

Plastic cotton bud stems were by far and away the biggest problem - they were everywhere

Stopped for a coffee on the A12 and the machine packed up after dispensing just the coffee but not the milk. Jumped on to another machine and got a double large shot for nothing. Currently parked in a lay-by picking a fight with a bush.

Followed one of these down the Eastwood Road from Rayleigh through to Kent Elms. For those not aware it was a Bentley continental Coupe. Lots of gauping open mouthed motorists going in the opposite direction. A seriously good looking classy car.
