Always one of my favourite footballers of his time, but sadly drawn into the whole glut of disgrace and corruption that surrounds the European and World footballing governing bodies.

But I am familiar with his constant disdain for English football. He’s always despised us & treated us like unwanted step-children.

I hope he’s convicted, and subsequently rots along with that old coot, Blatter.

As for the World Cup itself, you’re absolutely right. It was obvious back then, and it’s still obvious now, why they got awarded the tournament.

But our own F.A. Should hang their heads in shame aswell. Their little information pamphlet they put out, warning travelling fans not to be caught being drunk and/or gay in public, was embarrassing.

I said this before the Russian tournament, (which was also awarded for all the wrong reasons) and I’ll say it now, we, as one of the leading bodies of World Football, should have boycotted it altogether.

I genuinely believe the bent ****s at FIFA would have awarded it to Narnia, had the make-believe Nation offered enough money.

I think this is the general consensus of the entire footballing world.

I’ve never seen a single cogent argument for holding it in Qatar. Conversely, the reasons for not holding it there, can be stacked fairly high.

The only people who would disagree with it, are the ones who are now sitting in handcuffs, or hopefully, soon-to-be.

I was actually in Australia when the 2022 world cup decision was made and the guy who brought my mates over to play in Oz was a high figure in Football West and part of the Aussie FA. They were gutted they lost out to Qatar. For me Australia would have been a great place to hold the world cup, so many Italians, Greeks, Croatians, English, Irish, South Americans etc all living there. I truly believe it would have been a very special world cup, the WA state league is a party in itself with just about every team having a national affiliation.

The Destroyer. Our battered old Insect Tennis racket shaped zapper finally died (£5 from B&M). Got one from Amazon which cost a bit more but wow, flies, Mossies and other non welcome flying critters are fried in nano seconds. This thing actually blows the wings off flies. V impressive.
