Question What is making you happy today?

Steve Kemp? the race was in memory of his daughter Nicola. Nice guy, good runner for Southend Athletics Club too. I haven't seen him at runs/races for a few years or more.
That’s the Chap, later took up Race walking for Southend AC. Trained and Ran with him for some years. Great guy, haven’t seen him for while.

But Canvey does on a saturday night.

Ha! As I remember from doing the 3/3A Bus route with Eastern National back in the day.Friday nights could be quite tasty too.You were guaranteed to pick up a 3/3A, if you were doing overtime ("gobble") on a late night Fri/Sat shift. :winking:

Spent a very pleasant afternoon up at Runnymede Hall, at Castle Point's Voluntary Services annual mayor's awards afternoon tea. The reason for this was my mum and dad were both being recognised for their 19 years of driving for the local voluntary car scheme.

Dad was asked how many people they take a week between them, and he reckoned about 100. Selfless work and I am so very proud of them both still doing this into their 80s!

Getting round the Southend Half Marathon in 2 hours 2 minutes and 22 seconds (which is way better than I thought I'd do it) and raising £1500 for HARP - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/kerry-fairless1

Top man well done, ideal conditions for it today. I last ran it 4 years ago on the hottest day of the year, a month off my 57th birthday!.
You raised more than me, I could only manage £525 for Lynch Syndrome ( a type of cancer only applicable to females. )

By the way Lordy I probably missed you because I ended up doing some ad hoc marshalling when a young woman fainted just up the road from me on the first leg before the Ocean Beach. She was an experienced runner and had done full marathons. Fair play to her boyfriend, once she had recovered he set off to catch you all up after a break of 45 minutes.

Getting up very early this morning to fly to Lisbon for the third time in four weeks was potentially a candidate for the 'hacked off' thread but a project I have been working on since last summer has finally gone live. Get in.
