Question What is making you happy today?

Tram works mean my usual transport to work is going to be replaced for a month (should be in 'what's hacking you off') but rather than suffer a slow stinky bus I've gone out and bought a nice bike with the aim to cycle to work at least 3 times each week. Sheffield is the hilliest city in the UK and so hopefully I'll shed a few pounds going up and down some big hills.

Did you check your company you work for had a cycle to work scheme? When I was at the airport I got a bike and loads of gear all valued upto £1000 and only paid about £500 odd for it all over the year. Great thing to do but probably too late seeing as you've bought a bike, but for anyone reading ask the question before you buy a bike.

The train track at Dawlish has been repaired and trains are up and running straight through from Penzance to Cheltenham without any mucking about on buses between Plymouth and Exeter. This means me and Grumpy Blue can get a few in at The Kemble Brewery ahead of today's game - get in!

Having to do my first working Sunday and then being taken for a Toby Carvery at the Artichoke afterwards, made it all bearable!

a) On holiday.
b) Left work early.
c) An episode of Great British Bake Off on the telly that I either missed or I forgot.

David Crown Lounge tomorrow V Wombles. Great bloke Crowney, if you haven't tried it I recommend it as a great game experience.

I always thought he looked a bit like Lovejoy.

The fictional antique dealer portrayed by Ian McShane that is, not the **** that used to present Soccer AM.

Yes, I can see that. He was in great form today, really great host.
PB came in before game and was upbeat, spoke of trying to sign some of the loan lads on contract.
Also Tilly was there AND he was talking with Ron!

There is a set of traffic lights I always stop at en route to work with a load of billboards next to it. One of the giant posters that did have an advert for some frozen food has been replaced by a Debenham's one for bikinis. Lovely stuff.

Coming back from Swindon today on the train, I sat opposite and had a jolly good chat with one of the top particle physics scientists (now retired) in the country. Good friends with a few of the Bletchley Park code breakers (now all dead), Peter Higgs (he of Higgs Boson) and Jaffa someone who tried to build an atomic bomb for Saddam Hussein (under duress). Fascinating chap, if not up on his personal hygiene.
