What is it with Tilson?

Just read on the OS that Tilly is unhappy with the ref today, and that he can't fault the players effort against Swansea etc.

He can never say the better team won, or that he got the tactics wrong etc.

Just seen on SSN Harry Redknapp's post game interview, and he said Tottenham were the far superior team, and totally deserved to win. Harry Redknapp is a realist and says it like it is, Tilson is not even like this.

You never hear this sort of thing from Tilson after a defeat, he always moans about the ref. He defends his players to the hilt, even if they play poor.

Bailey must be getting tips from Maher on how to talk himself into getting yellow cards. Silly sending off and he let the team down today.

League one next season me thinks!

Tilson you've alot to answer for...

Spot on, hardly had a shot, let not one but 3 in and saved a penalty, and he still can't accept we were second best. Lose Clarke and the book of excuses will be doing overtime!

Christmas must be a bundle of fun round your house, Wiggy?.......:p

Is it reruns of christmas editions of Eastenders all day?

It was Tony Adams :)

'TonytheKray' did Tilson have an affair with your missus or something? Because your only ever come on here to slag him off!

And he wouldn't have been far off without Clarke would he, worst set of strikers for a long time!

Maybe he'd have picked up another striker. Neither of us know. Fact is, despite a poor result yesterday, we're still in the top six. I'd have taken that at the start of the season.

I forgot to say, welcome back TTK. I must have missed your posts after the 4-1 spanking of Huddersfield the other week.

I actually agree with some of Tilly's points. The referee was actually awful. He was whistle happy throughout the game and thus resulting in breaking up play, some of the decisions he made were airy fairy and I am sure some of the reasons he blew up was because he was'nt able to keep up with the game. Saw him huffing and puffing alot. How he missed the deliberate hand ball no one knows as I think the only people not to see it were the officials! and he also missed the two-footed challenge by Robinson. To be fair I didn't expect to come away from swansea with a good win and I have to say that it was not one of SUFC better performances and up until the sending off we were holding our own.

I don't understand why some people only post on here when we lose. It's almost like they sit there hoping we come off worst. Every time we lose their on here slagging everything to do with the club off. Can't you say one positive thing about the club.

Swansea are a very good team this year and not many teams will come away with much from the Liberty. However we are sitting nicely at 6th place which I'm pretty sure most people would have taken at the start of the season.

In response to the threads subject would you rather Tilly blasted his players in interviews week in week out, that would really be fantastic for moral wouldn't it. Didn't really expect anything from yesterday and the fact Bailey was sent off for what I reckon was a challenge not worthy of a booking just made it harder for us.

I hate coming on here when we lose.... Steve Tilson is the best Manager I have seen at Southend United FC and it makes me proud that we have a local boy who cares for our club.... I hope he stays with us for many more years....

Ups and downs is all about supporting a fooball club like Southend United FC

I wish some supporters would wake up and smell the coffee... coming into christmas period and we are in the top 6 is a bloody fantastic achievement.....

If we make the playoffs this year it would will be amazing to be honest... I for one knew we may struggle this season coming down was a massive sucker punch for any manager and his players......

We HAVE done excellent so far and three points at an near sellout at Roots Hall this Saturday we be a perfect christmas present for me anyway

Who has disabled the rep button?

This post deserves positive rep. Thank God some of our fans can see Steve Tilson's achievements in the context of our history.

TTK and Wiggy, have you ever thought that maybe Tilly prefers to conduct the tellings off or criticsm and such like within the dressing room rather than using the media to spout off? Just a thought.

Tilly is in charge for a reason, not becuase he isnt any good but becuase he is a young manager who has turned SUFC's fortunes around, and yes he will make mistakes along the way but **** me if you had only been doing a job for a relatively short amount of time im sure you would as well.

Rich, spot on son. Saw the goals and it it looked like a bad day at the office.

Didn't expect much today to be honest and once Bailey was sent off I feared the worst.

We are still top six and have got to stay positive.

Tilson you've alot to answer for...

With the exception of Swansea (33) and Leeds (39), no one else in this League has scored more goals than we have.

I make you right about young Nicky Bailey getting sent off, but tell me Tony, how many should we have thrashed top-of-the-table Swansea by with our ten men? You noticed Bailey getting sent off but don't seem to recognise that we played with 10 men yesterday for an hour?

We've lost by 3 goals twice this season.
On both occasions we had 10 men in the side.

On the flip side, we've scored 4 once, we've scored three ourselves 6 times already this season and on another 6 occasions we've scored twice. Over the whole season (including the Carling and FA Cup games), we've failed to score in just 4 games.

You're right fella, sixth place in the League with our hardest games against Swansea away, Forest away and Leeds away all behind us, we really are in a suicidal position. That bloody Steve Tilson again...

:thump:

Now perhaps you want to tell us more about how you were right about not releasing Michael Kightly?

Everything you say in this post is right . Also the reason why the missed challenge was so crucial was that Swansea then broke and scored their 2nd .If the tackle had been given we would have had a free kick on the edge of their box instead .

However the ref's one-sided performance should not mask a woefully inadequate display from the Blues . Without Leon there was no threat up front ( don't think ChasMac won one ball in the first half ) and even before Bailey went they were all over us . Swansea used the full width of the pitch to great effect and attacked at will past Hammell ( who also allowed the Swansea striker to get away from him for the by then meaningless 3rd). Sadly, with the exception on Maher and Lewis Hunt we didn't even look like we wanted it .

Also Tilly has seemingly lost patience with Morgan and Harrold who did not make the bench ( maybe he has got fed up with putting his head on the block for him - well done the boo boys :( ) . As a result there was no-one up front to hold the ball up , so the ball kept on coming back on us just like at Northampton where we were lucky to get away with it against inferior opposition .

The other major problem is the distribution from the back . Collis , especially in the first 20 minutes continually kicked the ball straight to a Swansea player ( admittedly ChasMac is not much of a target when marked by a guy who is 6'4"+ ) and Clarke and Richards also repeatedly booted the ball aimlessly up front , only to look surprised that it came back again . I would have thought that it would be quite simple to eradicate this from our play but we see it week in week out .

Sorry , Tilly but we can and need to do better than this and **** refs are a fact of life that we have to overcome ( ask Roy keane or Millwall fans this weekend )

We need to sort this out quickly as without Leon there seems to be little flair and most of all belief .I do not like to contemplate what things will be like if he does not stay with us in Jan - or has Tilly got another trick up his sleeve ??
