Christmas stuff in the shops already.
Has he tried contacting his local councillor(s) - I've found that can often speed things up, or at the very least improve communication.Southend Council, what an incompetent useless mess?. 2 years ago my youngest son experienced subsidence both internal & external at his home. Insurance Co, Loss Adjusters & Council all notified. 18 months of monitoring the movement, to determine whether it was the large tree outside or the drains causing it. All arrows pointed to the tree, meanwhile the cracks got bigger, doors wouldn't close, & you could stick a biro pen in them, both external & internal.
Weekly calls to the Loss Adjusters, who repeated the same message 'we've emailed the council & are awaiting their reply'.
2 months ago we were told the Council had confirmed the tree was to blame, & had given the instruction to their 'tree felling dept' to remove it. Has anything since happened, no chance. Try getting the email address to the councils insurance dept, not listed!. Try calling the tree felling dept, you get a p.o address to write to FFS!.
Yet if you don't pay your council tax etc, they will be onto you like a ton of bricks?. And these people are elected to look after us??. A Sloth with broken arms would move quicker than they do.
Council officers and the tree felling department aren't elected. Only the councillors, who set policy, are. Elected officials don't get involved in the day to day running of the council, but they can exert pressure, so perhaps your best bet would be to contact one of the councillors for your ward and see if they can help.Southend Council, what an incompetent useless mess?. 2 years ago my youngest son experienced subsidence both internal & external at his home. Lydia Hyde is the councillor overseeing tree issues, she talks the talk but as yet I have not heard anything that suggests she does more than having her photo taken when a sapling is planted.Southend Council, what an incompetent useless mess?. 2 years ago my youngest son experienced subsidence both internal & external at his home. Then Estate Agent who manages the property on behalf of the Freeholder, told me he'd sent 12 emails to Ian Brown, since April regarding another subsidence issue locally, & has yet to receive a reply FFS!.Ian Brown is the actual council paid salary tree boss, his e mail is ianbrown@southend.gov.uk He hides at Chalkwell Park but doesn't answer e mails, phone or personal calls there. And appears to ignore everything and everyone. Those with the Parks Dept and Tree Fellas that I have spoken with do not hold him in esteem.
Agreed, something is very badly wrong with the department Mr Brown works in; from "off the record" coversations I have had with other council staff it appears a well known problem area and one the new administation might be trying to tackle. As with these types of beaurocracy it is a "long game" and needs follow up and follow up plus moving up the leadership. Then Estate Agent who manages the property on behalf of the Freeholder, told me he'd sent 12 emails to Ian Brown, since April regarding another subsidence issue locally, & has yet to receive a reply FFS!.
What a disgrace?.
The whole council system in this country needs a complete reset frustratingly inept at best with one or two exceptions.Southend Council, what an incompetent useless mess?. 2 years ago my youngest son experienced subsidence both internal & external at his home. Don't be a Scrooge. Stick it onto 24°c and reminisce about summerThe annual battle has begun - 'It was only 4°c last night, is it time to put the heating on?' - NO!
No from me too; I have fired up the wood burner for the first time in September - ever. The annual battle has begun - 'It was only 4°c last night, is it time to put the heating on?' - NO!
