The meedja showing the dead bodies of that poor father & young girl who tried to swim the Rio Grande to get into the USA. The BBC had some decency in not showing it this morning. Do we really need to see their prone bodies? Very voyeuristic.

I haven't seen the photo or even heard of the situation but surely a photo would be much more powerful that writing an article about it?

It's a bit like when they do Sports Relief etc. They show images and videos of starving/dying people to send a powerful message.

It's a photo of a man and his young daughter, face down in the shallows of a river. They can't see any faces. It's unnecessary IMHO.

Back to the crossings thing.. it hacks me off when there is next to no traffic and an adult presses the button, looks up and crosses straight away leaving cars having to stop at an empty crossing 20 seconds later. ..
I propose that any button presser has to keep their finger on the button until the man goes green, if they remove said finger an electric shock is administered.. giving waiting car drivers something to laugh about

Try sitting on a delayed train for hours with no updates from the driver....

4-5 years ago, on a very hot day in July, was on the Channel Tunnel train going to Calais.
Train got about a mile out of Folkstone & then stopped. No announcements for over an hour. Go on there any time of the year, & it's hot & stuffy, after an hour of it stopping, it was hotter than a sauna.
Turned out there were immigrants on the track a lot further up, & eventually the train reversed back to Folkstone.
If i'd been the driver i'd have kept going, & watch them run like Linford Christie when I got near them!. If they had stood their ground, then they would have become part of it!.

Just picked Maurice the rescue cat up and gave him a hug and a kiss on the head. The ungrateful bugger farted and it wasn't pleasant let me tell you!!!

Left the bedroom window open last night due to the heat. Went to close it this morning about 2 hours before my alarm goes off and there was a massive spider on the windowsill. No good with them. Managed to get it outside without waking the lass. As I was doing so I noticed next door were out in the garden burying their cat which must have died.

What an awful start to the morning. Couldn't be arsed to go back to sleep. Really hacked me off and now I'm knackered at work.

Burying a cat in the early hours? Very odd. Are your neighbours Mr & Mrs West? Are there lots of female hitchhikers missing in Sunderland? :Stunned:

Given the cost of going to the vet and having it put down (which happened to us recently) I can't say I'm too suprised.

I don't think it's illegal to bury a cat in your back garden? I know what you mean about the cost though, having lost one fairly recently (though that wasn't having it put down as it got hit by a car).

It was just the bloke doing it, he gets up early hours for work. Would have been stranger to leave a dead cat lying around the house, no? At least that's how I'm looking at it.

I had a dead fox in my back garden. If you leave it long enough they dry out and go stiff as a board.

By the time I sorted it out it was almost completely flat and could have been thrown like a Frisbee.

All this talk of dead animals reminds me: In Silvertown Tunnel on the North London Line there was (is?) a mumified dog in the tunnel that has been there years. Give it wave if you're on your way to Canning Town.

Next you'll be saying the the cat must have been 6 ft long and he is now extending his patio.

There's some poor family up in Sunderland still getting over the shock this morning of taking a rare moment's peace to bury their beloved pet Smoky, when suddenly their crazed next door neighbour shrieks, leans out the window, and lobs a huge spider at them.

I bet that chuckled you up writing that SBH:Winking:
