The Radio 6 reshuffle.

I enjoy Radcliffe and Maconie in the afternoon. I also can't stand Lauren Laverne or Mary Anne Hobbs. Steve Lamacq reminds me of someone that still goes to the Pink Toothbrush in their fifties.

Laverne is a significant improvement on Keaveny. I liked MAH on a Sunday morning.

I went into Southend town centre yesterday, and was being driven by a friend. The problem we had wasn't the normal street beggars or charity muggers, it was parking. He had an appointment near the Spurs shop and we wanted less than an hour parking. The first thing was that the two places he normally parks in the street, they wanted you to join up and pay by card. He is an older person and doesn't do this sort of thing. He can't work a PC or complicated phone for example. A lot of the older generation that I help can't. He didn't want to join up anything. He just wanted to put coins in for one hours parking. So then we drove to a car park that accepted coins. and they had made it 2 hours minimum. 2 hours minimum? What a joke. I should think about a third of the people that drive into town just want an hours parking. He's already had problems with other car parks when he's put in the wrong car reg number that some of the new parking machines want, another thing the elderly are being fined for. No wonder people are being put off going into town.

Southend Council should make parking free in the town centre.

When I was at Brize the local town Witney has free parking in town. Was an absolute god send and made me want to use the town.

The one problem I can forsee with free parking is the streets becoming clogged with quality used cars for sale.

Let's face it, everyone in Essex is involved in the used auto trade to some degree.
