Saw an "expert" on the BBC saying that Trump won't go to war with NK despite his posturing, and there is no way to stop NK getting a nuclear bomb within the next few years as sanctions are toothless. End of days anyone?

I can think of one or two ways of slowing him down.

Surely the CIA can come up with some way of assassinating him whilst framing a member of his family to detract suspicion

They are just a front for the US military/industrial machine. The last thing they want is to stop war. Lots of press releases with a smiling Jong in (allegedly) testing weapons, complete in James Bond baddie suit. CIA led stories about an attack on Guam.

Still if you can con the world and convince them to invade Afghanistan and Iraq because of a non existent Al-Qaeda and WOMD, then military action against North Korea will be a walk in the park.

Anyone who wears cuban heels can't be all bad.

No, but we got warning alarms on our cellphones telling us to take cover and move to the basement/ground floor. That was 6am. Couldn't get back to sleep after that!

Hmm, don't think I'd have appreciated that experience either.

Incidentally, how come they have your cellphone number - is that a tsunami thing?

Yeah I was wondering that as well. Do the government have a way of using telephone providers to push through emergency alerts?

They all do. They can even turn on your camera and watch you "entertaining" yourself on certain websites.

Apparantly. :whistling:

They don't have our numbers as such. All phones in Japan get sent warnings for earthquakes/tsunamis and recently they added missiles too. There must be some government arrangement with the providers. You can opt out, but why would you? Pretty scary when you get an earthquake warning about ten or so seconds before it arrives. I was in the bath on the eighth floor of a hotel in Tokyo a couple of years ago when the phone started buzzing. Not much I could do so I just rode it out and enjoyed the free wave machine. That short warning is enough time to dive under a table, grab your kids or turn off the gas. Has been successful in saving lives. Not sure it would be that useful for a nuclear attack though!

Interesting.

And an American version

It seems like there was a trial in the UK in 2014 and a consultation in 2015, but it seems to have been kicked into the long grass by Brexit taking up all the civil service time.

Not sure it would be that useful for a nuclear attack though!

Maybe you could wrap yourself in tin foil?

Or I could just jump in the fridge

The fact that my 9 month old never sleeps. 4 hours last night. The wife left for work this morning at 7.30 and won't come home until 9 tonight. Ruined. Actually looking forward to a 10 hour shift tomorrow.
