Ladies (mostly) love champagne, prosecco is a cheaper version and a million times nicer than Cava.
I get all that (don't agree about Cava but whatever), I just wonder about the total sea change in the space of a year or 2. I know people who didn't used to drink but they feel the need to bang on about Prosecco of late. Something must have happened to make it 'fashionable'.

Tesco's £5 a bottle! Seriously, you can pick up quite a pleasant bottle of Prosecco for less than the price of a good bottle of wine - and, I don't know about others, but I find I feel much less "heady" the morning after a few glasses than I do with wine.

Prosecco is what I imagine the 'here come the girls' women on the Boots adverts drink.

Its just a shame the advert doesn't show them at half past midnight with tear streaked mascara and sick in their hair.

Hacking cough, sore throat and bunged up nose. Doh!!!..............and now tooth ache from the catarrh. To whoever of my relatives or friends who gave me this, thank you, you *******. And all the other visitors to Ches RHB, thank you for wiping out our my red wine supplies. It's going to be a fun week. Southend better not lose, that's all I can say. Harumph!

Often thought that myself,Cava does the job every time,Prosecco seems to be the in thing ATM.

Last year in a Spanish supermarket we purchased 4 bottles of champagne called "el Dora n gut rot" at £4 a bottle, very nice and 4 of us were brave enough to jump in the villa pool at midnight.

Still annoys me that the Swindon game is today. I'm at uni in Bath so only half an hour away, so obviously the game is during the two weeks I'm home for Christmas and would have to face the journey!

Disgraceful that, yesterday, a terminally ill man that we knew, died and his widow and family had to wait 14 hours (till 4 a.m. this morning) for him to be pronounced dead officially. The family suffered enough during his last weeks, why couldn't someone give them this final pronouncement in a more reasonable time?
:soapbox:

Last Tuesday (27th) morning my 'estranged' wife passed away in the family home in Shoebury, she had bowel & Liver cancer. I sat by her bedside for the last 22 hrs, along with my youngest son.
Phoned 111 as advised by the Carer, got put through to their base in Ashford!. Was told it would be a 4-5 hrs wait (!), as it was a public holiday, and they were very busy.
Also because the death was expected, and not unexpected, which apparently takes priority?. Dr. turned up about 4 hrs later, being driven everywhere by a designated driver. He said he was not from this area, but was covering from Brentwood to Chelmsford to Shoebury!. What a state our NHS is in!.
I asked him if he'd be calling an undertaker, he said that was down to me, or if I wanted I could keep her body here for a couple of days!!!!. WTF.
Yeah ok, i'll put it in the shed!. Fortunately Stibbards were working that day, and were round within an hour.
Guess your story is very similar to mine, as yesterday being a Bank Hol, but even so, 14 hrs is disgraceful.

Jet lag. You'd think I'd be used to it by now. Worse still it seems I may be back again in either one or two weeks on business

Yes, sorry to hear of your story, but does sound similar. Stibbards were also on standby for this and ready well ahead of the doctor/emergency paramedic. They were available through the night. I also wondered if, because it was an expected death, it was much less of a priority.
