What have you watched on TV?

Re-watched Who Do You Think You Are with Josh Widdicombe. One of my favourite ones ever as he traced his lineage back to Henry Rich, Charles I's Groom of the Closet (one of the most privileged members at Court), then back to Mary Boleyn, and on back to Edward I.

I watched the US version and it was superb.
Only problem with the US version is it's full of Z list reality TV show "stars", I watched the 1st series, but prefer the simplicity of the UK version with pretty ordinary folk.

Absolutely love The Traitors, and Claudia is excellent.

Saw Pep Guardiola: Chasing Perfection on BBC 1 yesterda.Interesting .Though personally I would have liked to have seen more footage of his time at Bayern.Incidentally he didn't start the trend for keepers to play from the back with their feet btw. That was his mentor ,the late, great Johan Cruyff with Busquets.

Can't say I've noticed Newsnight's new shortened format to have had much effect on its content though what hurt about yesterday's 30 min.show was going out after The Traitors Uncloaked more than anything else.

Enjoyed Episode 2 of Battle for Britain:The Miners's Strike last night.

My younger brother (not Rob .Noxious but the businesssman not on SZ) was living & working in Notts.at the time.Every time he drove on the motorway he was pulled over but soon waved on, apparently. (I guess not many people driving an XJ6 and wearing a suit were on their way to a picketline). :Winking:

Also my cousin,RS, (same age as me) was then employed by Essex Police and earned a lot of overtime pay on his days off by being bussed up to Nots. (and other) coalfields, according to his account.

As the C4 documentary subtly illustrated large parts of the UK (certainly those areas near coalfields) were effectively being operated as a Police state at the time.

I think it's safe to say the miners were generally shafted by the num, the police and thatcher!

Quite enjoyed (most of) the first 2 Carole KIng programmes on BBC 4 last night (and in the early hours). One thing though when it comes to 50's/60's Goffin /King compositions much prefer the original version of songs by Little Eva,The Drifters, the Shirelles etc rather tnan later covers.

Just finished The Artful dodger, an 8 parter on Disney Plus. Set in Australia 15 years on from where the original story ended. Highly watchable and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Dodger is played by Thomas Brodie-Sangster, he of Maze Runner fame.

I know there are some reality show fans here, and personally have no time for the likes of the Love Islands, but always liked The Apprentice.

However, one show I urge you to watch is The Traitors..... it's phenomenal.

The UK season 1 gets you hooked, season 2 even better.

US version on bbc iplayer also good, but the Australian version also on iplayer is epic. Season 2 in Aus, I won't give anything away ... but best of the lot, and UK 2 did take some beating I thought.... but this does it!

Give it a go ..... it's seriously good!!
