What did you do...

Amidst the shell-shocked euphoria & whilst Clarkey was careering off to the corner, I turned around to take in the wonderful spectacle of the Upper Shed bouncing up & down in unco-ordinated glee. It was one of those moments -& if you've ever been in a car crash, you may recognise this- where the immediate vicinity around you seems to slow down & you can hardly hear anything; really stange, but joyously so in this instance! Happy daze indeed...

After a good few minutes of going totally mental, during which time a total stranger called Barry kissed by 10 year old son (The one time I will totally accept this sort of behaviour!!) I turned round to the silly cow behind me who had moaned throughout the match about various players and said "Are you happy now?" I think she was, I just think it's shame I had to listen to her drivel for the previous 90 minutes on a day when she and her family should have been ENJOYING the experience instead of moaning. I'm glad I'm not married to her, becuase I'd hate to hear it on a bad day!!!

What a great day, though, eh?! Right up there with similar great days/nights as a Shrimper in recent years.

PS Reality Check: Looking at the Chelsea programme I noted that the only other times in the last 10 years they have gone to a third round replay they have won 4-0...

Jumped up, only to be caught mid-air by my old man and brother, so was suspended a few feet in the air enjoying the pumping fist action. Was then barged forward and fell 2 rows in front, managed to pick myself up and was hugged by several people i've never met before.

Having not been able to get a ticket I was sitting on our new sofa in the conservatory listenning to BBC Essex & watching SSN. My wife had just that second put a mug of tea into my hand, as the goal went in & I lept up, jumped about, screamed like a banshie, all whilst managing to keep my right hand still & hardly spilled a drop! (mainly as the Mrs was giving me a look that said if I spilled it on the sofa I wouldn't be alive for the replay)

As a quick aside, when you look at how easily the hammers brushed aside Barnsley on Saturday, and an out of sorts Spurs thrashed Burnley last night in the other cup (both mid-table CC sides) it puts the enormity of our performance on Saturday into perspective.

I went mental. I hugged my mate, then my sister the the people in front of us who I didn't know. Then I went even more mental when Mildenhall pulled off THAT save. Brilliant moment, and moments like that make me proud to be a Shrimper!
