What can we really do?

Mike Ashley bucked his ideas up after all the protests against him by the 'toon army'.

By appointing Joe Kinnear and buying no one in the window?

The geordies hate him, and he is still there.

Loic Remy seems to of been a good signing. (I know its a loan but with view to permanent)

Am I making this up? A few years back didn't a load of supporters have a protest outside Ron's house?

I have to say that I think it's a myth that protests and demonstrations create a bad feeling around the club. The protests that were held in the 1990s over Jobson and the proposed move to Basildon brought fans and team together. Didn't the players have their own sit-down protest ? I certainly remember seeing an article in Match magazine, of all places, about this.

Those protests got us Ron Martin
And the protests againts the Rubins in the 80'S got us Anton Johnson
Harry used to use the phrase, be careful what you wish for

I know it is stating the obvious but Southend need a Jack Walker figure. That is, someone who loves the club, has very deep pockets, and is not looking to invest in the club as a money making venture. Is there such a person in the town?
Steve the penny picker, he's got loads of wonga

Results bring good attendances, cheer on the lads with the best atmosphere we've ever had, we just need to get the west going!!

The "red card" protest against Jobson included players such as Andy Ansah coming on to the pitch with a red card in his hand! Last season there were some "Martin OUT" chants at the home match when we were 2-0 down to Barnet, what happened? We battled back to a 2-2 draw. It is incorrect to say that such protests affect the players on the pitch.

What about Maidstone? And yes, I do say that maybe we should have done.

But for whatever reason we didn't and we are where we are. That was my point. And when I say "better off", I mean more from a support-wise point of view in as much as we have never had to contend with those issues.

Maidstone re-formed and are now sitting top of Ryman Premier League having lost just one game. They play in front of crowds of over 2000. I am sure their fans are enjoying supporting their club far more than we are these days.

Yep and he sent his wife out to talk to them.

I'm no fan of RM neither am I an apologist for him but that is slightly spun.

I don't think Mrs RM needs anyone to "send her out", she came out all guns blazing and had by far the best of the following encounter.

In answer there is not a lot we can do until the majority of those against RM are singing the same tune.

I think it is fair to say the majority despise RM. But have adopted the we cant do anything and lets wait and see if we go bust attitude. Lets hope that doesn't happen, as it will be too late then.

Until we have this majority willing to do something, whether that be protests, sitting down with potential investors etc. Then its just a hope and pray situation. Which for me is sad, where has the fight gone?....We appear a very lenient bunch here.

Maidstone are a great little club. But they can never be promoted because of their 3G pitch.

Personally i think there is a vocal minority who "despise" RM. Even on SZ when there have been polls about RM the results have not suggested that there is a majority. Given that a majority of fans don't look a SZ and a fair few I've spoken to think it is rightly called Shrimper Moan I think there are a lot of assumptions being made. A lot of fans seem quite happy to support their team through thick and thin whoever is in temporary charge at the top.

4 pages and 55 responses later and what solutions have we come to?

Very little, yet there seems to be a lot of people moaning about there being no action being taken and we are just sitting back and "taking it" yet these same people have hardly come up with a solution.

Only solution I can see is someone who has connections with Ron or someone close to Ron who also has contacts with several wealthy people looking to invest in a project that may never give them a return on their investment. Any volunteers?
