Question What are you reading?

Trawl back and you'll find plenty of references. If you can't be bothered.....................
Jo Nesbo: (Norwegian) I know that there are some on here who don't like him but I have enjoyed the majority of his books. (Certainly, ridiculous publicity, like claiming he is the new Larsson, doesn't help).
Camilla Lackberg: (Swedish) A good read, enjoyed both 'The Ice Princess' and 'The Preacher'.
J Adler-Olsen: (Danish) When searching for books this summer I fell on this writer who comes highly recommended. I can't
comment as I've yet to read the book.
Arnaldur Indridason: (Icelandic) My personal favourite at the moment. Read 'The Draining Lake' in French and loved it.
Hypothermia was also a great read and has been very popular in England.
COME ON YOU FINNS what are you hanging about for!!!
Of course there is also Wallender but as you've pointed out above, the risk is that you could fall on a story you have already seen on the telly.

Thanks for that. As you rightly guessed, I couldn't be bothered to trawl back, but I knew there were some fans on here. Thanks also to Pubey for the recommendation.

Thanks to Drastic Sturgeon, I read Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Just about to finish Shogun by Clavell, which is absolutely superb... lead me to have vivid dreams last night and I woke Mrs Pubey by sleeptalking about it. Freaked her out by saying "We're under attack from all sides" and "they're the enemies" and other such stuff! crazy!!

With the possible exception of King Rat I enjoyed all the Clavell novels.

I'll never Get out of this World Alive.Steve Earle.Much better than Doghouses Roses.Anyone who likes singer/songwriter Steve earle's stuff or Hank Williams should read this wonderful book.

Quite liked him when he played for Fulham & Leicester. :winking:

Ha! :thumbsup:I was quite a big fan of that Steve Earle's too, along with Les Barrett and Viv Busby from that era.Fond memories of Les Strong and even John Lacy too, along with the incomparable Jimmy Conway,Alan Mullery and (Sir)Bobby Moore.Peter Mellor wasn't bad either.Even liked Alan Slough and John Cutbush.

Just finished Game of Thrones by George R R Martin. An excellent read and one that I struggled to put down.

Now trying to read on Stranger tides, which I am struggling to pick up! Not loving his writing style if i'm honest. I may give it another 50 pages to see if it grabs me.

Should carry on the Ice and Storm series, its worth it.

Ive read the first 4 books and now half way through Feast for Crows and still got Dance with Dragons to go.

Feast for Crows I have to say I have slowed down with as it doesnt continue the stories from the previous book and introduces too many new characters too follow. Still expands on the story and will be lost when Ive finished these two.

Karin Fossum is also excellent. And Hakan Nesser.

Following a recent recommendation by Yogi Bear UtC, I read Redeemer by Jo Nesbo, which I enjoyed, but to be completely honest disappointed me a bit. I will try some more though. Thanks for the recommendation Yogi.

Now reading Callling Out For You by Karin Fossum, which I am really enjoying. I'm only 100 or so pages in, but it's a good read.

I've ordered Faceless Killers which is the first Wallender book, so will let you know what I think of that.

Cheers
