Current favourite of the moment...

Greatest piece of 'neoclassical ambient drone' of all time.

Being reissued on vinyl later this year - a must buy (well all SOTL is a must-own for fans of decent classical/ambient stuff).

Stick it out for the last 5mins, which are achingly beautiful.

If you manage to catch SOTL live (which is tough, cos they don't tour much) then do, it's as life-changing a moment as a gig can be.

And here comes The Knight himself, seeing as it's that Summer Solstice day thingy >

One for the old man seeing as it's Father's Day an' all.

"So when I stop outside the old house just on the corner of Bridgewater Drive and Southbourne Grove, I steel myself to go in. There used to be plastic flamingoes loitering on the ponds outside there - they were hilarious - but now the ponds have been filled in, cemented and shaled over. I hang around the reception area of the Doctor's surgery which is there now and I see myself in the mirror. I'm looking pale and somewhat stunned. That mirror on that toilet door is still there... after all these years. The Receptionist calls over asking if she can help. I go towards her, where she is stood in what was a little lounge where me and my brothers used to have some great play and not so play fights, and I say 'sorry, just popping in to have a look at the old place. My dad built this back in '62. That mirror is still there from those days.' She gave me a kind smile but I knew that I had to leave then. You can go back, but you can never stay."

In love Conor Oberst - this is refreshingly direct for him. On my buy list.

First new Loop music for 18? years out this week - vinyl just been ordered but download code comes with it rather than emailed - a painful wait......

Going to see Wizz Jones and Jason Steel in Leigh tonight as part of Leigh Folk Festival. Well looking forward to this one..
