In my view Nick has only got this reputation because he is no longer with us (a bit like Eva Cassidy) - all very pleasant but does not grab me :thumbdown:
S'funny, I know 2 people who saw Nick Drake live - one embraces the myth, the other explodes it. I reckon he was probably quite special on a good day, but what with his problems they were probably few and far between. Great, great records though, all 3 of them.

I always recommend Dave Evans to Drake fans - he's like Nick Drake for grown-ups. Very similar to ND but the songs are better, his playing is better, and I prefer his voice too (it's very similar though). The only footage you'll find on YouTube is this insane clip of his guitar picking...

...pretty impressive, but check out the first 2 albums for some of the finest songwriting the 1970s had to offer. He's an understated genius.

Thanks Supernaut - this is more my kind of thing (I am a bit of an instrumental `head`) - will check out Daves albums if I can find them
