with this division you will always get the odd result which throws the form book out of the window....just hope its not the case at the weekend against Carlisle, need to get back to winning ways again and then push on as we have a few away games in March

Wanted to make a point but statistics defeated me. Funnily enough both Burton & us have similar form over the last 18 games.......which surprised me (them 2 defeats in 18....us 3 defeats). Strange that we should both fall to Accrington! The possible good news is that Burton have their return fixture against Accers in a couple of weeks time....let's hope they can repeat their feat. Yet, I don't won't to get into the game of relying on others bad fortune, this means diddly squat unless we get back to winning ways PDQ!

Every club will have its banana skins during the season but is it how well and quickly they recover from them that perhaps defines the promotion sides from the also rans?

I've had a look at the season so far amongst the promotion contenders on the basis of how many winless runs they've been on............quite interesting! I've taken out the minor blips and recorded anything OVER a series of two games without a win.

BURTON So far this season they have NOT gone more than two games without a win! that must be promotion form.

SHREWSBURY They have 2 series of three games without a win.

WYCOMBE As above, 2 series of three games without a win. Worth noting that all those six games were draws.

LUTON Poor start to the season, without a win in five games. However, since then only 1 series of three matches without a win ...............and like Wycombe all three of those games were draws.

PLYMOUTH They've just had a dodgy period from Christmas to the end of January.....7 games without a win. Has anyone noticed, ominously, that since then they've won their last four games.

SOUTHEND 1 series of three games without a win (watch out Saturday.....hopefully it won't be a second series), 1 series of four games without a win, 1 series of five games without a win.

Sobering reading for those who still believe in our chances of making the automatics. Our monthly fits and starts is not the consistency of a promotion side and it needs to stop almost immediately if we are to have any chance of challenging for a top three place.
If there are a few who are even getting concerned about our play-off place, just keep an eye on lowly Pompey. Undefeated in their last six and NINE goals in their last two outings!.............you heard it here!

Teams from the top in every league lose to teams that on paper they should beat. Its what makes football a great game.

I'm sorry. If there was a "hang my head in shame" emoticon I would use it!

Now this is the sort of banter we like.. just having a laugh between a couple of fans.. well done londonblue & rootshallbloke so much nicer to read than some exchanges I've seen on the site, where if the exchange had been in a pub they would be out in the car park.

That's a fair point! But their average attendance is around 600-800 which isn't too far off considering the gap in divisions. Another thing to consider is that Bath have the big rugby presence and the likes of Bristol City are only 20/30 minutes away, although some clubs like Accrington have far bigger neighbours and although we complain about West Ham/Tottenham/etc they are all much further away than the likes of Liverpool and Everton are for Tranmere.

Have to respect Accrington as they're a proper football club probably punching above their weight but who aren't relying on a rich owner or pretending they're something they're not. Less respect for the likes of Burton who have benefitted from funding and their fan base has remained non-league size. To be honest though that may just be my bias that I still haven't forgiven them for the play-offs!

Bath City average home crowd this season is 501.
The best average in the Conference South is Ebbsfleet 901, but strangely the highest crowd in Conference South this season was Havant v Farnborough 4,565 not sure what was going on there.

Who said that? Come on, outside!
