Echo News 'We're talking and we're trying' - Blues boss Maher on his search for a striker

Moncur, one game playing for bottom of the League, gets a goal....Maher wouldn't have allowed that!
The other two that never get a game, do the stats, getting boring like our manager!
Did you see Moncur's goal? It's available on highlights.
I guess that's tongue in cheek that Maher wouldn't have allowed a goal, right?

Absolutely nobody can believe that was an intentional shot on goal 😂

He’s done exactly what he did during his time here and delivered an awful ball into the box. Only on this occasion, he’s got lucky as it’s sliced right into the top corner
...is the right answer!
And now for the condo in Miami, where's Bim's replacement?

Didn't we have free kicks for him to take then....stand by the fact that used properly Moncur was on a different planet to Kevs favourites
Yeah the planet where relegation is the order of the day. He's ended up at Ebbsfleet for crying out loud.

Our need for an attacking midfielder doesn't mean current ones have this unlocked amazing ability that Kev is purposely keeping locked. It makes absolutely zero sense for any manager to do that. A flukey shot doesn't change that.

The 110 signed over the past 4 months are nearly all naff and not worthy of us and have all been rubbish for their teams
Our budget is naturally small in comparison to these other 23 big spenders
If we had signed any of them we would be stuck with them
Its ALL too difficult and too expensive
the smallest squad in the league is fine with me
Im looking forward to next Summer
Sod the loan system only works 50 % of the time

It might help me to feel better if I adopted my new philosophy above and I would also become excessively patient
Yes indeed, everything is going to be fine as long as we have complete faith in COSU and, Maher and be patient for the next five years and be grateful we still have a club, no pre season, embargo, poor referees have got it in for us etc etc. Have I left anything out?

Not once, but twice.

He’s still young (25) so has plenty of time on his side, but he needs to be settled. As long as we didn’t break the bank for him, I see no harm in taking a punt.
You see maybe another good example. He was offered a very attractive deal by Chesterfield further to his loan there- but a number of EFL clubs were interested and he got a 3-year deal at Barnsley in L1. From an attractive offer at Chesterfield to whatever at Barnsley won’t be in our budget? So presumably he would need to take a cut?
His loan was cut short by Barrow because they have brought others in (this fits with players becoming available as the result of other moves in the window).

Now he may accept L2 is around his current level and may have modified expectations a bit but he has another year at Barnsley after this. Will Barnsley just look to farm him out again on loan to get some or all of his wages covered? Would the loan him to us and we are arguing about how much of the wage to pick up (a la Moncs)? If we want to do a permanent do Barnsley want a fee? What about the difference between what he is currently earning until Jun 26 and what we will pay? If he is on £3k a week now and we can only afford £1.5k then that’s £120k in wages?

We loan him in and he scores a hatful then Barnsley will thank us immensely and sell to someone else. The problem with loans as per Bim.

Maybe we agree a fee with Barnsley that allows Barnsley to negotiate an exit payment to Dallas and he comes to us with a sell on.

You can see how it can get very complicated between club, player and us. Can’t see him not costing a decent fee and coming here as highest earner.

Of course probably this ship has sailed. Be easier to buy a desperately under nourished teenager from a lower league who scored a great goal in training last week…

Yes these all the things we said and many didn’t mean it seems… predictable some might say…

I wonder if COSU are stalling on targets provided by Kev, as they know our current strikers can't hit a barn door, and they were signed by Kev ?. I wonder also if they are waiting till the end of the month, to see if they can actually score, I would be worried about his judgement if I was investing a fortune.

In Husin’s first season and a half, he was constantly pulling the trigger resulting in a fair few goals. Recently, he’s not shooting at all. So it is plausible that it’s down to a tactical tweak/coaching.

Really?

Noor played 48 league games in his first season and a half with us, scoring 3 goals.

His best season for league goals scored was last season when he scored 4 in 41 appearances.

In total, Noor has scored 7 goals in 114 appearances for us.

I struggle to believe his goalscoring prowess has been coached out of him.

Need a root and branch review end of season to understand who is responsible in our scouting and player recruitment process. There are many people now involved (and it is evolving to also now include more focus on data). There is an obvious disconnect and breakdown in how we are running things at the moment.

Indeed and 3 other midfielders- Cav 8 in 273, Morton 7 in 158, KAF 2 in 48

The only MF we have who knows where the onion bag is, is Coker 10 in 50. Who probably hasn’t been coached by anyone except Kev

The midfield does just does not create enough for others they don’t score themselves

Coker is not an attacking midfielder- he is just a good midfielder who does the defensive stuffer very well but has an eye for- as all good CM should. If we had 3 CM all giving one in 5 that’s 27 goals a season. I suspect at the moment we get about 10 mostly due to Oli.

If you look at assists and creativity I doubt the picture improves. Hence we need at least one very good midfielder who is an upgrade on what we have- even Oli…

Apart from Ollie those midfielder goal records are truly shocking Why?

Between 3 of them thats 2 goals every 56 games ?!

Just TO NAME A FEW OF THE LEAGUES TOP SCORERS- Nick Haughton ( Fylde ) 12 goals
Alex Newby ,Altrincham 10 goals, James Henry, Aldershot 10 goals. Close to one goal every 2 games !
All midfielders . I could name more

is that midfield achievement acceptable?
