The main Wembley tube station is closed for engineering works. As a result the allocation of tickets is limited to 17.5k per club plus upto another 9k if if the club can source enough coaches to take the fans (at an additional £40 each). Now this is nonsense as.....What's the issue? Travel? Ticket numbers? Both?
(1) there are an additional 2 Wembley stations in operation
(2) It ignores that fans may travel by car, bus, taxi etc to the vicinity
(3) the tubeline that is shut, the last station that is open is just 2 miles from Wembley - an easy 40 minute walk that I'm sure many would be able and willing to undertake if necessary
(4) It ignores that fans could buy a coach package and then just get the train and/or other transport means to Wembley
(5) It ignores the many fans who don't live in Southend - why do they have to buy a coach ticket from Southend to attend the game?
Best way forward is to remove the necessity for coaches, and make it widely known that fans need to allow extra time to get to and from the ground.
