Breaking News Walker loaned to Hereford

Best of luck to Walker.

I thought, when he was first brought in, he looked a real excellent prospect. A little rough around the edges, but had the basics to be a decent centre forward for us. Had pace, decent scoring record (Good loan spell at Yeovil before coming to us), and a bit of trickery.

Like many others have pointed out, he never got over that miss at Doncaster. Had that gone in, whilst it may not have made much difference with the end result (Donny where exceptional that day) it maybe would have allowed us to see the real James Walker.

Best of luck to him, and I hope it works out for him. Nice way of keeping his match fitness up should the likes of Barney or Dougie get injured then he comes back to us on his game. If they stay fit, he gets his confidence back up with a few goals, and will either come back to us a better player or move on in January.

He's got abilty, just little confidence. I'm still hopeful that he has a future here

Good luck to Walks, I hope this will do his confidence the same it did to Moussa by going out on loan. Out of the two I would rather see Walker come back and stay a Southend United player than Revell. He needs to work on his end product, and if he can get that down to perfection then we have an exceptionally good striker on our hands. He is young and lets not let him go as I think he has very good potential just needs the confidence to go with it.

personally I can not believe we have let a player go out on loan who can play in a number of positions when we dont exactly have the biggest squad in the world, does this indicate another loan coming in? to have a player who can play on either wing or up top is perfect squad material IMO, I fully appreciate the match fitness blah blah blah, but we only two injuries away from struggling for numbers

He showed moments of brilliance (a la the goal at orient away last season) but he's just not consistant. Good move I recon, especially when we've got two wage bills just join on loan. I will be interested to follow his progress.

Whilst I believe that it is a move, essentially to restore cofidence in himself as a player, I can understand your view that it reduces an already, very small squad. If we were to work on the assumption that it was to bring another loan player in ...........what type of player would we be looking for? Someone to play wide..........I suppose that would be a logical replacement for Betsy but on the other hand, what kind of message would that send to Laurent and Scannell?

Jimmy last week against Northampton stiffs played very average,Somewhere in there is a talented player..Hope the loan helps JW to regain confidence.

He might have the ability, he might even have the confidence in his own ability, but Tilson doesn't.

It's for a month. There's no point in having a large squad if the manager doesn't trust all the players in it. The fact that Tilly has opted to play Dougie Freedman ahead of him speaks volumes.

If Walker doesn't have the confidence in himself, then Tilly won't have the confidence in him.

Hopefully a loan will give him a fresh start and he'll recover some faith in his ability, and that Tilly will give him another go. I personally think he's got something about him and that a few goals for a different team might be the kickstart that he needs

Not good enough IMO , how long can yuo wait for a player to become confident , Tilly sees him in training every day and must get frustrated as like many have said , he has the abiltity to run and beat players and is talented , but come Saturday he is simply a no show .

We can't afford players at our club anymore with our tight budget , its best to ship him out and get someone in who will score goals , that man IMO will be O' donovan .

Can someone tell me Walkers Record before that miss at Donny as i don;t think it was that good anyway , so to say that miss wrecked his career at SUFC i can't quite believe .......happy to be proved wrong though .

i thought it was a real shame to have to watch the extremely limited Revell getting all those games while Walker didn't get a look in -

He was brilliant when he came on at orient, but gordon connelly was brilliant for half a match too.

He may come good, a few games away from the club might freshen him up, and maybe we could recall him if we get some injuries.

And Hooper did play for us after returning from Hereford, albeit only once. Also Scannell since his return from Brentford.

Right, and just to be clear, apart from Moussa,Hooper, and Scannell and as a general rule, although with the previous mentioned exceptions, no one who goes out on loan under Tilly ever comes back.
