Breaking News WAKEY WAKEY!!! Harding and Martin

Harding would be a very good signing and would put me (and I'm sure everyone!) at ease a little bit more.

I dont like the "Loan with a view" though as that to me says we'll get him on loan and try to get someone cheaper before we have to make it permanent, but we'll see...

Whats this about Martin then - is there any link to this story anywhere?!

Another player i know something of, was great at Brighton with the potential to one day play for England however he moved up to us and couldn't cope. The expectations adn pressure proved too much for him and he was sold to Ipswich. I have seen him play there half a dozen times or so, he was meant to be in the running for player of the year the season before last, something went wrong last year though.

Overall, not a bad player not may thrive at a club like yours due to some comparisons with Brighton. He is tall but not overly great in the air or tough in the tackle though. Oh and he has awful hair. Hope this helps

Exchanged, rather than sold.

He is an energetic player who should be comfortable at this level. Do not expect him to provide a replacement for the set-piece contributions from Mulgrew; his shooting is best described as wayward.

Anyone after Mulgrew will see like a let down to me. His set peices and general ability reminder me on a cross between Paulo Maldini and Robert Carlos. Only taller and more Scotish.

His crossing and set pieces were incredible, he wasnt the best defender though.

Wish we had got him but think defensively we can do better, but will certainly miss him going forward, especially as we dont have gower either!

I dont think players that are good going forward at this level are ever the best defenders but I think he offered something else in his overall play that you wont get from many players. Real confidence on the ball and class.

He was exchanged in a deal involving Ian Westlake and abit of cash.
I agree with all the rest there, he had a habit of getting into good positions then crossing into the stand either behind the goal or opposite.

Speaking to an Ipswich season ticket holder in the office, he has confirmed that Harding is defo a Championship quality player, but has for some reason or another fallen out of favour with Magilton. He has also said that we have agreed to take him on loan, with a view to a perm transfer - surely the signing of Harding (fingers crossed) and Grant will appease the fans and negative feelings and comments on this forum !

Agreed, Mulgrew's set pieces were fantastic but the most important thing for a left back is defending, so that's the quality I'd be most looking for too.

As for who would take the set pieces, I don't know who's been taking them in pre-season, but i'd have thought maybe Moussa & Francis?

If it happens a good start but I still feel we a left winger short and shouldnt be starting the season without one.

Thats a very good point. It seems to be with most a real case of having either a competent defender or any confidence on the ball. The reason many teams play more direct football is due to having defenders only able to hoof like Matt Heath at Col Ewe

Harding's also a Leeds fan ( according to Wikipedia ) so him and Tilly should get on alright.

Ah yes, the famous blood sweat and tears statements from Martin.. Perhaps if he spent more time re assessing the bank situation, and less time spouting bollox we might get somewhere.

Worried me for the last few seasons seeing our left back taking corners and first JCR and then Macca as last man. I wouldn't mind betting Walker or Scannell can take corners, and I would expect Bailey or Macca to be the dead ball kings.

Good job we don't follow football in mexico / paraguay etc where the Goalkeepers seem to take the free kicks and penaltys ........now thats worrying :)

Anyone remember Hunts two corners at home to Hartlepool the season we won the league, two of the best I've seen.
