Villagers object to stadium

Personally I wouldnt be worried by that as there will always be objections from locals.

True its not nice to have a football ground plonked near to your home but the fact that a retail park (much needed in the Southend Boro) will be provided as well I think strengthens our case.

You can't blame people for objecting, after all they are bound to put their needs before that of the community as a whole, but I think they need to think through their arguments a bit better:-

Is that all? Of all the people that live around there only 40 could make it?

"The people in Sutton have chosen to come and live in a country area and now they are faced with having a major football stadium with all that entails built close to their properties."

Are they serious? They reckon Sutton is a country area? Sutton Road is an industrial estate with a rubbish dump attached!

Wow, 40 people objecting...

Should really bother the council that.

ShrimperZone is more powerful than that lot!.....let's crush them!.

Although, to be fair, I can see their point.

I think 40 is the whole population of Sutton.

Sutton cant be more then 40 people there in my veiw! besides Sutton is rochford council and they have NO say over the stadium part of the plans only the training ground behind it, Though Ron Martin did tell us at the Trust AGM that Rochford had looked very interested in supporting the training ground behind the stadium as that land falls under Rochford Borough

Simple James if you can save roots hall and redevelop it answer this question

1. where do we get the money from?
and where do we get the money from for the new ground?
We are millions in debt still.. let's remember that..

not so long ago, the club was minutes away from folding.. remember that

And sure enough it will be again if it attempts to compete without generating additional revenue streams from outside of football.

Remember that!

Anyone who thinks that Southend do not need a new ground to progress in the future and become at the very least a settled Championship side is living in cloud cuckoo land I'm afraid.

We all have fond memories of Roots Hall, but in all honesty, these days it is just a mish-mash of a stadium with bits stuck on here and there.... A patchwork quilt almost.

On top of that, we are hugely restricted in terms of the amount of people we can get in it and, most importantly, it is not a money making stadium.

Of course people are going to protest about it, and good luck to them, it is there right and if I am being honest, I would probably feel the same if I was a no supporter, but the fact remains that all our fans should be behind this proposed move.

I am yet to find one supporter of Southend United who has come up with a credible reason for staying at Roots Hall.... The reason, there arent any!

dagenham kev ! who i understand is the sole member of the save ROOTS HALL campaign

If I won the euromillions tonight, I'd buy the club and we'd stay at RH.

In our most recent live match on Sky (which I've watched 3 times now) it was called ``a hotch potch of a ground''
