Vanishing plane

This seems to be the most likely:

I've already read various articles dismissing this one. Allegedly pulling transponders etc are not the things you turn off in an electrical fire - and are not easy to turn off in any case. Additionally the plane made several changes in direction some time after the initial change of direction off the flight plan - which indicates that someone was in control of the plane and not incapacitated by smoke.

In view of what they're now discussing with the search area, would not a submarine be of greater benefit as it wouldn't need to keep flying 4 hours to and from the search site? Or is that too simple an idea?!!!

Nope.

Wreckage will either be floating on the surface, or sunk to the bottom of the deep ocean. A submarine won't have good range on the surface and it's radar is useful but won't be able to detect wreckage from all the other stuff at the bottom of the ocean (even when they knew pretty exactly where the air France plane was nr Brazil) it still took ages with radar to locate if exactly.

That said. I think a submarine is being used. Probably doing current readings and reporting forecasts and conditions and stuff. Planes are the best way to search I think. Get a carrier down there with some jets.

Tell me please that with satellite technology and military monitoring by the US, Russia, China and the UK among others, that someone out there really doesn't have the answer.

That's the puzzling thing for me. Literally hundreds of satellites in orbit and we can't find large chunks of debris in the ocean.

Took them 2 years to completely find and salvage the Air France flight and some expert on LBC last night even hinted that with the currents, winds and weather out in the latest search area it could take upwards of 10 years to get to the bottom[excuse the pun] of this.

Maybe it really did cross over to another dimension? PickledSeal - you teach a bit of the supernatural, what do you have to say about this one?

I do wonder (semi-seriously) whether we're all making a basic assumption that leads us to nothing. What if the plane went up instead of down?

That featured on a Dr Who story many years ago - planes vanishing, and the Radar showing them plunging straight down but of course it was Aliens, and they were going straight up.

Not too dissimilar from some of the stuff Pickled Seal teaches his kids as "fact" though :whistling:
