U.K. Justice - absolutely pathetic.

Sorry but that's total crap that you just made up. Wealth has nothing to do with it, something like 85% of the people here are expatriates (many of them dirt poor actually) not Emiratis who are very much a minority in their own country. There are also plenty of "wealthy" places in the world that are awash with drug users so your logic is flawed. Not sure what you mean by "massive international assistance" in relation to drugs either? The fact is if you're carrying something here (no matter how small) and you're caught, you'll be thrown into a third world style jail for a few years. That is enough to make even the most hardened drug user think again and in doing so removes the market for the drug dealer.

When was aged 15/18 there was a little firm of us who quite simply broke the law.

Punishment was being locked up in the police cell overnight to face the magistrate in the morning who then handed out remands into custody pending further court appearances.

Inside was tough and at times brutal yet every single one of us learnt our lesson and never reoffended.

Todays thing of cautions ASBOs ect we would have laughed at such stupid punishment.

My son and daughters friends which number around 50 and only 2 actually smoke in addition as far as i know none of them do drugs but most if not all go out on the lash .

No idea what schools you see but here in Grays you rarely see kids smoking.

Blimey, I work in Tilbury and am often in Grays around lunchtimes, and I see plenty of school age kids having a crafty drag in the High Street area.

In addition if any of my kids went to any party when they were younger and came home drunk i would be seeking out the parents of such party for their explanation.

agreed, unfortunately, these particuar groups of parents, obviously feel its ok for them to behave this way, and as you said in another post, treat them like adults...oh hang on, dont adults drink and get drunk?

oh dear..the parody..lets treat them as kids.

and another thing with your post..you ferried your boy around and didnt give them any freedom, is that treating them as kids or adults?...i'm confused?

Must admit i have confused myself !

I tnink young kids should not be roaming the streets hence why i ferried them.

As a parent i tried what i thought was best ie no need to get boozed up at a young age meaning explaining in an adult fashion it seemed to work.

I'd like to thank all you good people who contributed to this post. However, with all respect i feel a lot of you lost your way somewhat, as the reaction i was expecting was peoples views on sentences given out in court for offences like the one commited which up to several years ago carried a 4 year stretch. Any comments?.
