1) Need raw pace up front, someone like Brit or Wayne Gray who both chased the lost cause too., someone who the opposing defense are frightened of!

2) A big imposing Centre Half, someone who the opposition attack is frightened of!

3) An out and out (consistent) left winger someone who the oppositions manager is frightened of!

Assombalonga, Cresswell and Ryan Hall then?

Thompson doesn't seem the most imposing centre back. Need a proper brick ********* who is good in the air. Bit of pace up top too and we are sorted!

Then we get an emergency loan keeper in. I think the point is that Smith is probably one of our higher earners and Ted Smith could sit in his space on the bench so his wages could be better spent elsewhere

Sounds a little bit odd to me. Why run the risk of going for a loan keeper when you can have a known guardian sitting on the bench - although the point about the salary might be valid.

@CJPhillips1982: Just had it confirmed that there is still space for another signing in the squad and Blues are keen to bring in a defender.

Good news that we are going to sign someone, bad news as they are still talking about spaces which still means Ron hasn't paid off his subscription of the fruit flavoured drink.

Yes, good news.

And that still leaves the question of goals scored/strikers. I can't see Reid or Seedy getting a game for the 2nd half of the season I'm afraid.

As an aside, I see that 32 year old Matt Heath has joined .......... wait for it .......... Harrogate Town of the Conference North with an average home gate of around 400 people.

Interesting logic from Brown and the management. This tweet from Chris Phillips a couple of hours back says he thinks we're after another defender:

I get that to an extent, especially if Thomson leaves as then we'd definitely be short, but it strikes me a little odd as we're very good defensively and it's only our lack of cutting edge in the final third that seems to let us down.

In Phil Brown & team we trust though.

There's an echo in here :winking:

My worry is NOT who is being brought/bought to the club BUT who might be sold! Dan has been very good all season, Hursty has shown some real good play and now Lennie is a real player on the up.

And with the possibility of getting a decent tie in the 4th round will only attract more attention to the likes of Bentley, Hurst and Leonard.

But perhaps with such a feelgood atmosphere around the club, and the possibility of promotion, maybe they will all want to stay around for the fun. The danger lies in failing to go up again...their talent isn't going to go away so at the moment they are in a win/win situation.
As for Ron just selling them, I doubt he would want to risk this necessary push for promotion.

He might have to sell to make sure that the club is still around to get promoted though.

Yes but if we get a money spinner it will take the pressure off. I don't think even RM would want to upset Brown at the moment.

We need to be getting Leonard tied down on a long term deal and give Hurst another year at least.

They might be sell-able, but with 6 months left on their contracts we will get hardly anything for them.

Brown wants Thompson back on a Permanent deal....

Would be happy with that. Versatile in terms of playing right back or CB. Young which fits into PB current ethic of building a young team. Decent on the ball. Has played ok when given the chance, but maybe could have played more than he has. Thought him and Prosser looked strong on Saturday and if as expected Kiernan doesnt return would be happy with Thompson playing. A run in the side would do him good i feel.
