Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
Any truth FGR asked about GSM?
GSM is a weird one, love his character , great person , absolutely fantastic season. But his stock is never gonna be as high as it will be this summer , and will never score that amount of goals again, and his defensive ability is questionable to say the least. Would personally cash in on him if an efl club came in for him . Buy them and sell them on for more is what our transfer policy is supposed to be

I bet both teams are one bad season from a chain of relegations that will see them back in the third division. It wouldn’t surprise me if Southampton are there next season and it is not so long ago they were regarded as the model for sustainable stats based recruitment.
I think most clubs use stats now, but its more about how they are used, looking for the angle that others havent picked up on. Its all about finding the hidden stats amongst the obvious stats nowadays, to gain an edge. I guess thats the sort of thing the most recent COSU member, the guy from Seattle, will bring to the table as thats his field apparently.

Absolutely this.

Some people on Facebook quoting 150-200k for him is absolute madness. He's a 28 year old NL wingback with questionable ability. I love him and hope he stays of course, but nobody is going to pay much more than a nominal fee.

Spasov is not one I would be getting wildly excited about , but if the management team want him its good by me (I was very please when we signed the Prolific Mark Salter and we know how that went)

4 seasons in the National league or below , 98 games 25 goals of which 18 were last season (in 44 games)
Hopefully last season is the start not an exception

Think we need to replace him and take a gamble from someone in the league below imo .
We’re supposed to be bring in better than what we have- not preparing to be competitive in the NLS. No problem with Spasov, may be one for the future the we can quickly develop. Replace Bonne with another similar prospect from the NLS then I would question how serious we are…

I think it’s exactly this, and it’s going to be the first real statement from COSU of how they want to manage the club.

Imagine there’s a bid of £80k:

Do they accept it, cash in and take the profit knowing he could walk for free in a year and if he stays then he’s never going to be worth that much again? Effectively the Peterborough approach. £80k might not be much, but it gets you Spasov and one or two others and covers some wages for a good few months.

Do they turn it down as a statement of intent that we’re not selling our best players and do want to “attack the league” and go one step further this season?

All indications have been the former, but this is the first real test of that approach.

I think we need a better and creative midfield. Husin runs but doesn't create much, Miley has gone from Rolls Royce to Robin Reliant, Morton has possible fitness issues. By not creating, our forwards are getting lambasted. Problem is the defenders are making mistakes as they are not very well protected by the midfield. That, in my opinion, is where we should strengthen. Of course we do also need a defender as numbers are low.

Yeah for sure we need that one to find a key pass to unlock defence too

And hence why on earth would we let him go?
Because he likely would want to? Got a year left on his deal, so risk losing him for nowt. And deny him chance to play for a FL club, which I doubt we'd do for any of our players.

This may be the only chance at FL football GSM will ever get, so of course he'd want to take it.

I agree with some other posters, the Bulgarian lad doesn't exactly excite me either but at the same time he still young and can improve. Might be 1 of those which needs time to bed in, with that in mind i would look to recruit a proven national league goalscorer. I just hope we have other players line up who are proven national league level who can hit the ground running. Can't really be signing to many unproven players at this level.

We wouldn’t accept a nominal fee though. That’s the supply and demand.
