Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
My concern with our lack of activity is that not singing players until July was blamed on our short comings. Yet we don’t seem to really doing much different? But like Shrimperjon said we don’t know what deals are in the making I guess.

I think people need to realise in terms of football club ownership our club really doesn't have a pot to **** in. Hence why a consortium of 10 plus was needed to buy the club.

Unfortunately teams in the EFL will always be a bigger pull unless we pay over the odds wages which we can't afford to do.

In our division FGR, York Etc are also a far better option for most players as they have wealthy owners.

Unfortunately we will get the players no other clubs want. As we have in past.

They tend to be the desperate 1's around July onwards.

True, but they were Walker and Gubbins, and being polite, they haven’t exactly made much of an impact. It was suggested this was due to the embargo and us not being able to get our identified targets.

Now it seems as if a protracted ‘dither and delay’ transfer process, dressed up as the other DD, means there’s a chance we’ll miss out on targets yet again (confirmed to be the case for at least one top target). If we haven’t signed anyone by July I’ll be very concerned, and I reckon Kev would be too.
Confirmed might be a tad too strong as I don't think the club has made a statement on it. It's a SZ confirmed which may or may not be 100% accurate.

They could have got the deal over the line before the other club expressed an interest.
If buts and maybe. No guarantee he would have signed and maybe he was holding out to see what else was available. Also if true and we have a L2 list and a NL list then that would have been delayed by the play off run. I’m disappointed that it looks like he won’t be joining but it’s not the end of the world. We move on

No maybe. Definitely.

If you are waiting for a statement from the club on this, be prepared to wait for a very long time. Multiple independent and reliable sources have confirmed this to be true.
No I wouldn't expect any statement from the club. Maybe in an audience with Tom or Justin session something may be revealed informally. Until then it's SZ fact - maybe true.

Worthing fan here; if you don't get Cashman you've probably dodged a bullet.

Good player but very high maintenance and prone to a strop or two
Interesting to hear that because earlier this evening It was reliably mentioned to me that there was an element of concern raised during the recruitment process about his temperament. Apparently had some issues at both Brighton and Coventry. I wonder if that's what caused us to seemingly drag our heels in getting the deal done as some have indicated. It was not a concern from the management team but elsewhere from within.

I believe those inner rumblings were traced to a shipment of garlic eclairs.

I’d imagine it is more because we wanted to save £50 per week, was waiting from a response from 1 of the 46 people who need to sign off a transfer and the club listened to fans on SZ saying they can have a week or two off before starting their transfer business 😂
