Is John Still mentoring someone else at all for us? Does he go to games alone. When he decides to call it a day, not for years I hope, or departs for a higher plane, has he trained up a great successor or will we have to go searching to buy the next talent spotter?

The fact that the three amigos are on a mission to get us back into the EFL and a long term project, underpinned by stability, hopefully the fact that the loyalty they have built up, paired with the short amount of time and patience Gills gave Clemence will more than sway any decision on their part to stay and complete what they have started here.

Or alternatively Gills got that appointment wrong and have swiftly moved to rectify it before the next season starts.
Yes, our trio have been loyal but if the takeover doesn’t go through soon I wouldn’t begrudge them for seeking pastures new. As much as we would all hate it, they could easily do well at Gillingham given the likely sizeable budget

Wouldn't disagree with anything you have said there.

But, I would add, bear in mind previous to Clemence, Neil Harris only lasted 9 months, Jan to October, they are beginning to get a track record of making the wrong appointment and having to move swiftly to correct it.

Where Maher has already been here over a year, progressed the club on and off the pitch and has the backing of Justin Rees, as per the TT podcast, which if you haven't been able to catch it yet, Justin spells out in Spades.

As I said, I don't disagree with anything you said, but going to Gills and being out of work after 6 to ten months and then having to watch someone else bring us the success that Kev, Daz and Benno have started is a pretty big stake to gamble, but you have to bear in mind the deal needs completing, as you have said.

I think they could afford that gamble, because their stars are well and truly in the ascendency here and if the deal did fall apart, they would be in demand anyway and might have better clubs than the smoking gun of the Gills in the market for them , should the time come, but a big hopefully not.

If the deal isn’t done soon then Kev and maybe Currie as well would be a bit foolish not to entertain what Gillingham are selling.

If like to think Kev might take benno with him if anything as they both played there and currie would step up into our head coach role.

Takeover continues to drag with no sign of completion, kev told to work with what he's got...again as the consortium wont continue to plough money in without owning. Gillingham offer a decent budget, the ability to buy and sell players and increase in salary.....no brainer.

Who do we expect to leave.

Obviously those not under contract who are surplus but do we expect anyone to go for a fee. What sort of fee would you allow the following to go for?

Colin maybe 100k
Cards the same
Gus 50-75k
Miley 50k
Kensdale 100k

Personally wouldnt want to lose any of them.
Word is we have been coming along to Roots hall in order to have a look at Scott-Morriss, I don’t know if we are interested in bidding for him though.

Im gonna go old school on this, if the triumvirate moved to gillingham now they would be dead to me.

Cant see it happening tbh, kev knows the score.

If they get us back to the efl and a big side come knocking then fair game.

But there is a sign of completion. It is entering the home stretch now.

Maher knows if he gets promotion for Southend that he’ll be carried down Victoria Ave and have a statue built for him. Can’t see him leaving, he’s got unfinished business.
Not much job security there, Harris was sacked in the playoffs and Clements only lasted 6 months and without a pre-season.

Apparently, they have a lot of contracted old players so not much of a rebuild and who would want to do the bridge/tunnel most days!!
