Ron Martin is the very reason why there needs to be an external body involved in who can and can't own a football club. The guy pretty much killed the club and even now he's gone he's still sticking his ratty teeth into the club.

Have Southend ever had a good owner ( COSU aside) in the last 50 years? Jobson doesn't sound like he was great, but albeit a saint compared to the rats
Jobson was exactly what the club needed when he took over. He fought tooth and nail to save the club. But, he carried on acting the same way when he didn't need to and alienated pretty much everyone, including the fans.

From what Ive read there seems to be a lot of guesses about what the issue is. So i dont see much point in speculating

However IF it was another big issue caused by the Rat tribe, then it could be argued that info might be worth sharing, even if it was leaked, as it might be another appropriate occasion to pay Ron and Co a series of Home visits?

My point has been completely missed.

Ive already seen 3 different people mention how we could start the season in embargo, or worried that things are negative. Ever heard the saying "you dont tell the kids mum and dad are arguing" ?

It is so, SO unneeded to drop these subtle "cant sign anyone, ron/jack are why" and then REFUSING to provide any insight on how or why?

Couldnt care less if your info is valid or not, im not really fussed, just so pointless to post such baiting lines to an extremeley senstive situation?

Is that so hard to understand?

It's the nature of a fans forum. You are going to get all sorts posted on here. Personally I agree with your stance about not posting things without explaining the reason why but you have to you have to accept others may not. My advice would be not to take it too seriously on here.

I dont expect COSU to have bottomless pockets. However, they knew what they were getting into, they knew the club financially was not a profit concern and that, without even thinking about rebuilding stands in the stadium, they would have to dig into their pockets. I don't know if there were any other parties involved when we were bailed out but the problem we now have is that the consortium don't have deep pockets, probably, and quite rightly, cannot take major risks and therefore we will be left to stagnate in this division for the foreseeable future. Such a shame that such a fantastic fan base will be left to dwell in the National League. It's a real shame also that we can't look at some form of crowd funding to look to acquire players that may get us out of this league if that were a possibility.
Look what Grimsby achieved in 2014/2015 when they set out with a target of £20,000 and actually raised £110,000 when I believe the average home gate was only around 3700.

Not sure about that, on paper combined the consortium have very very deep pockets!

But thats not the point of it is it. These guys are looking at the next 50 years not just next season.

The problem with doing things the "proper" way is most other teams are still a rich mans plaything.

We really do need to sit back and enjoy the ride. But its hard when the football isnt great and your getting beaten by part timers.

I think they might be tempted to have a serious flutter in the transfer market if we are still non league in a few years as financially a large part of the 5 year plan has to be chasing the million plus in tv revenue you get in the league.

Think its time for transfer rumours part 3. this one has well and truly gone off subject .Just saying
Agree. I thought this was being monitored? We are just talking about current/ex players and the clubs finances. We must have a thread about our financial difficulties why dont people use that? We must have plenty of them. I wanted to read about transfer rumours. If we have no money then just close the thread

Gateshead were talking about 5 or 6 coming in once their takeover is imminently completed. Not sure if that's happened as have been too busy to check, but I know they've signed Nouble from Yeovil.

They're certainly the team to catch. Aside from that blip on Tuesday we're finishing the season strongly, and on current form they desperately need those reinforcements.

Brayden Johnson from Middlesbro' on loan

And what surprises me is its as clear as day to almost every supporter that we need a couple of reinforcements if we are to make a go off making the playoffs and giving ourselves a chance if we do ,A Lwb most definitely and maybe another striker perhaps ,even on loan until seasons end, yet no incomings ,makes me think that COSU not too bothered this season about promotion etc .
