And Kev likes to keep signings and interest quiet. Must be close or done
The East Anglian Daily Times ran the following article on the 19th Feb :-
Felixstowe & Walton United manager Stuart Boardley says he's surprised Ipswich Town haven't taken a look at in demand attacker Charlie Warren.
The 20-year-old - a left-footed right winger - has scored an incredible 27 goals for the Isthmian League Division One North league leaders so far this season and looks set for a move to an EFL club.
The Chantry-based schemer recently had trials at Championship outfit Stoke City and League One high-fliers Wycombe Wanderers.
He's currently at Bolton Wanderers and scored for their B side against Blackburn Rovers' Under-21s in a Lancashire FA Senior Cup match last night.
"Charlie's had a lot of interest from various EFL clubs," said Boardley.
"He's under contract with us, but we won't stand in the way of him fulfilling his potential.
"He was in Ipswich Town's academy when he was younger and also had a spell at Needham before we spotted him at the age of 15/16.
Charlie Warren has scored 27 goals for Felixstowe & Walton United this season.
"He's really good technically and physically very able. He's turned into a man over the past couple of years and this season has been his big break out.
"He's been incredible for us, is a great lad and, even though we've not received any concrete offers yet, we're resigned to losing him.
"I've got no doubt he'll go on to have a good professional career. My only surprise is that none of the local clubs - Ipswich, Colchester, Norwich, Cambridge - haven't had a look."
The Seasiders are currently involved in a thrilling Step 4 title race with Suffolk rivals Bury Town, the latter managed by former Ipswich Town midfielder Cole Skuse. The two clubs are locked on 68 points, with Essex club Brentwood Town breathing down their necks.

If he’s attracting interest from huger clubs, not likely to come here really? Unless he’s ’flattered to deceive’ and the teams he’s currently playing against arnt really that good
Maybe he's seeing that those bigger clubs are a step too far for him at this stage, but maybe we're not.

@Finney on the wing He's described in the East Anglian Daily Times (see #1546) as a left footed right winger.
Football League World (FLW) article dated 20th Jan states "A left-footed winger, Warren can operate on either flank as well as through the middle as an attacking midfielder, and the prospect has already developed a penchant for being something of a set-piece specialist"

Difficult one, a big national league club where he’ll get decent minutes might seem like a better stepping stone than going into a football league club’s under-21s/23s. I always felt like it’s a bit of a step in the wrong direction when a player does that after already proving themselves at senior level.

Likewise, he could end up going to an EFL team for what is probably a nominal fee for them, who just want to send him out on loan for the next 2 or 3 seasons and see whether he makes the cut (Pepple).

If we can offer him regular minutes, full time coaching and a proper settled home, he might prefer that given he’s still only 20.

As others have said, if CP is reporting it, then it must be as good as done.

Could we see him sign before the window closes this coming Thursday at 5pm?….
Possibly, but could we not sign him now and then loan him back to Felixstowe until the end of the season ? Means he will continue to get regular football. Only a thought as Felixstowe are at the top of their Division.
