Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Rumours Etc part 2.....2024/25

Transfer news
Based on what? How he played for us in the past (which was very good) or how he's playing now (which is not at all).
Good solid pro, plenty of experience to offer young defenders in the group, Natural leadership. No knowledge of whether he is fully fit, noticed that Jack Sims has taken the No.1 spot but he hasn't been in their matchday squads for a while now. Doesn't make him a bad keeper does it? Managers have opinions - Sims is a good keeper in his own right. I don't think he was throwing goals in for them; it appears they made the change after a rough patch of form. Unless he's injured, it's a sensible suggestion of a target. It's highly unlikely his ability has dramatically deteriorated in the last 2 years and he was their No.1 last season. Much rather that than an inexperienced Prem keeper in all honesty.

Might as well get Eastwood, Timlin etc and then lot back as they were really reliable for us in the past too. It’s so frustrating always looking to sign old players because they were good in the past but are on their way down and can’t get a game now. We would never move forward if that is what we do
Not suggesting that - I much prefer the process of young, promising, hungry players from VNL/VNS tbh. But GK is the one position where a bit of experience hurts no one. Plus, someone who knows how the current management work, has worked with the current No.1 and understands the club can't hurt stability either.

Of course not. But, his lack of game time speaks for itself. Plus, like Justham, he may just be past his best now.
There is, of course, a massive irony here. Had we not been tightly wedged in an embargo when his contact expired, I doubt very much if he would have moved on, and could still have been our No 1 today.

As referenced above though, it might just be a simple case that Jack Sims has come in and held the shirt well in Steve's absence. Could be he's fallen out with Morison, could be a number of factors aside from poor performance. Especially in the world of GK's where they don't chop and change often.

Jack Sims, another goalkeeper, like Harrison Male, we wanted to bring in during the summer. Bloody fruity drinks…

If "we" are looking at ex-goalies not getting games then look no further than Harrogate Town where a certain Oxley is warming the bench .............

I'll get my coat ...........................

Of course, we will never know all the reasons why a player isn't playing. However, if he'd not played for us previously, would we really be calling for us to sign Sutton's number 2 goalkeeper as an adequate replacement for Collin? Just like Justham, we wouldn't be signing the player from 3 years ago when we wanted them, but a player past their best.

I reiterate, I loved him here previously, but sometimes we have to move on and not let out hearts rule our heads. Additionally, I also called for us to sign Justham, but having seen him since then, I think that ship has rightly sailed.
