On a serious note , did see both players mentioned in the cup game earlier in the season, Hall looked good but cant remember Ferdinand looking particularly impressive, how would you guys rate him please ?

Mixed opinions on here for Ferdinand. Very lightweight but a good reader of the game, converted centre mid from centre back who can score a goal or two. Does jobs without standing out, may be a useful signing for you.

Ryan Hall is a class act.

Kane Ferdinand has a fair bit of experience for his age, and he has adapted from a centre back to a central midfielder pretty well, but he has never blown anyone away. Still young though, managed to get a few goals last season and his name will stand him good stead wherever he goes.

Personally, I think he's a great prospect. He came through our youth team set up as a CB and was converted to midfield by Sturrock. He developed very well last season, playing alongside Anthony Grant and/or Michael Timlin and tended to play the more forward member of a three player diamond midfield, scoring several goals - the televised game at Gillingham, I remember, he was the star player.

Trouble with him is, that he tends not to have much creativity and sometimes goes a bit awol on other CM duties. That's not something that's too serious at present, as he is still such a youngster, which many on here seem to forget. With good management (and that's not a criticism of our lot) and direction, I'm sure you will be pleased with him as a Posh player.

Ignore OBL, Ferdinand is a very tactically astute CM and he tends to be quiet/awol because the ball is being smashed over him and he's staying in position (unlike Timlin, Grant etc). His positioning and defensive work are excellent for someone with quite a slight build. He covers the ground well and can time his attacks which sees him getting a good number of goals. A very good signing for you, will be sad to see him go.

What the **** do you mean "ignore OBL"?! There's nothing wrong with what I've said, there's compliments and a general criticism, which I think is fair enough. It's a lot more complimentary than what some are saying elsewhere. Just get off my case!

Because you're saying he goes AWOL on his 'other' CM duties which is complete bollocks. He's disciplined and does the donkey work in midfield which allowed his CM partner (Timlin or Grant mainly) to be more expressive and mobile. I'm not on your case.

This.

I've no idea what system Peterborough play, but if it's the quasi-451 that everyone seems to love, then I'd imagine he'd relish playing ahead of McCann and Frecklington in a three-man midfield.

Toys out Pubey?......everyone's opinion is valid.....even if you don't agree....that's why it's called Shrimpers chit-chat old chap!

I find Kane lazy to be honest. Yes he scores the odd goal but his postional play in the CM position is poor at times. Unfortunatley he also has the attitude of someone who doesnt care which as a supporter i cant bare in any player. He also drove some of us mad on Saturday, he lost at least 3 or 4 headers to Gutteridge who is about a foot shorter. Good luck though, i hope he goes on to fulfil the undoubted talent he does have, when hes bothered. Doubt it will happen at the Posh though.

This.

East Stand Blue must be watching a different player - perhaps Sawyer.

no doubt about it ferdinand will be a better player playing in the championship as it will suit his game better and be with better quality players, would expect him to move on from peterborough within two years as well, goodluck to him.

I would not be surprised if the Kane deal is the only movement in or out today. The loan market will be our friend I think.

I've said as much before, but this whole "Kane is lazy" schtick is rubbish. The club use ProZone data, if he really wasn't pulling his weight then it'd would've been highlighted and Sturrock's not the kind of manager who'd suffer someone putting in a half-arsed performance (as Ryan Hall found out). No, he's not the type to rampage around the pitch for 90 minutes; he knows he doesn't need to do that and is likely to be caught out of position if he does. The Gillingham game OBL mentioned earlier in particular, I certainly can't remember another player covering as much ground as Kane that night because that was what was required of him. When played deeper, his game is all about positioning himself correctly and, as such, his running is limited.

I suspect I'm watching the same player Darren Ferguson and Sean O'Driscoll have been watching, rather than the one catching the eye of Garry Hill.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility that Fry is doing us a favour and trying to flush out potential suitors for those two as we need some cash. He's not going to object if he can pick up two decent players for a bargain price. However, given his past I also wouldn't rule out the possibility that he's trying to rape us because of our financial situation and would note that even if this is a favour we're calling in, he still owes us big time.

That we need to sell both is somewhat worrying.

Even more worrying is the fact that, according to the puported sum offered by Peterborough, we are prepared to let one or both go for such little money. With our expenses (and losses), just how long are we going to take to use up 200K?......and then what?.........Ah yes, the date for work starting on the new stadium will be announced! :winking:
