Tilson - hope I am wrong

I've heard that Tilson could be off to Posh if (as expected) Ferguson heads up to Wigan.

What sort of compensation do you think we could expect considering their moneybags chairman!

Do hope I'm wrong.

I think this may be the classic case of idle speculation on another site, in this case 606, being turned into a rumour on here.
I think there was also speculation on there of T&B going off to Swansea.
I can't see either happening. As much as most of us on here love Tilly I'm not sure he's that highly rated elsewhere and he's definitely not the sort of high profile type of appointment that temporarily rich clubs like Posh would want to appoint.

Exactly. Posh are johnny come lately mugs who would be nothing without Ferguson and that complete embarrassment of a chairman. And where the f*** is Peterborough anyway? It must be in the most boring location in the British Isles- a bit south, a bit midlands, a bit east. Hmmm. It's like the f***ing island in Lost, you cannot pinpoint the f***er on a map for love nor money. I reckon Barry Fry is moving the town on its axis in a fat John Locke style.

Cheers for that.

Nzamba do you have some underlying issues with Peterborough? lol. I don't understand the hatred on this forum towards posh, maybe a little bit of jealousy.

Yes, basically I project deep rooted existential anxieties about my sexuality, relationship with my father and fear of immigrants onto Peterborough United. It's f***ed up I know.

Chin up son, it happens to the best of us :-), your right about immigrants and P'boro though, they are everywhere! Problem is, I have to work there

In my view Tilly's lack of wanting to push himself in the media has helped us; I'll explain.
He is not and never is likely to be high profile, mouthy, courting the limelight, call it what you will.He quietly gets on with the brilliant work he has done, in his modest but determined way.Contrast that with the likes of Fry, or even John Gregory, or Martin Allen. All inferior in their management abilities in my view, but always on the look out for a media spot....Tiily can keep himself "on the lowdown" for evermore so far as I'm concerned, because we as a club benefit!

Like I say, I think it's actually his inability to string a sensible sentence together for the media that's helped us. Much as I love him for what he's brought to the club, I love him even more for his media-flaw as, without a doubt in my mind, if he did THAT part of his job better, he'd have been snapped up by a bigger fish a long time ago!

Long may his bumbling interviews continue to serve the best interests of Southend United!

Id be a bit more concerned about the swansea hunt for a new manager, looks like martinez will be gone by tonight

I would hope that we're safe from Swansea making an approach here (famous last words) due to Tilly's unsuccessful season in the Championship. Like others have mentioned, Tilly - who I'm a huge admirer of - does not have the 'big' PR profile that Swansea would want if they lose Martinez. Someone else mentioned Gary Speed going there; now that is a good shout...

Why do we need to worry. When was the last time Tilson was actually approached or even considered for a job, possibly Norwich. In recent times managers with far less experience and record have both been considered and actually been employed. I really dont think people see Tilson as a genuine option, other than on this board.

Tilly - a good guy, reliable, doesnt rock the boat, gets the best out of average players, more questionable buys than good, handling of higher profile players -unknown. Two promotions on the back of Freddie Eastwood's goals, one disastrous season in the Championship and 2 reasonable seasons in Div 1 on the back of loanees. We love him, but not enough there for an ambitious club to be too interested

A tad harsh IMO, the list of good signings is far from short, freddy, goat, prior, sodje, bailey, macca, barney(when fit) to name but a few, I know this is balanced out by the likes of foran, paynter, ricketts to name a few but lets not forget hindsight is a wonderful thing and not every signing made by every manager is a good one

Tilson is a winner - quite rare in football where a lot survive by being nearly men -

He has a deep understanding of the professional game at league one level and has won it -

His teams performance against the highest quality opposition - Man U, Chelsea, Tottenham - is outstanding

Mmmm...... OK maybe a bit harsh on the transfer front, but he's no more that 'evens' methinks - still a lot to prove he's ready for a 'big' club.

possibly right, I not sure it would work for tilly anywhere else tbh, he had the crowd on side from day one because of his legendary status as a player and is a local(ish) lad, no doubting his genuine affection for the club and that is one of the major pros in his case you know he loves SUFC, how many potential replacements would we be able to say that about, I know its not the only criteria for a manager but IMO knowing the gaffer gives a **** as much as i do means a hell of a lot to me

Hate this time of year where all kind of rumors start floating about and we end up having games of chinese whispers.

+ there is no way I will traveling to any other part of the country to see his bum.
