Well you won't have to worry your little head about it now anyway as we aren't producing it for the time being. It's not worth the hassle in what is done in James' and my own time.

Hassle?! HASSLE?!

I was led to believe that I was the only person who moaned about it?!

Was it THAT easy?! How come government's can't fall so easily?!

No backbone ...

I would estimate that our average attendance has risen at least 20% over the last couple of seasons.

The commercial department must be doing something right.

It doesn't take much to discourage people when they are doing things, as has been said, in their own time. Nice one Mike, hope your are proud of yourself and your petty negativity.

I posted instructions on how to download the MP3 files without having to set up the RSS feed.

If you want to download the podcasts but you can't be bothered to set up the RSS feed you can do the following:

1. Click on the RSS icon on the official site. This should bring up an XML message. You can collapse and expand the message by clicking on the + and - symbols.

2. Between each pair of <item> </item> tags is a description of the content and of each podcast plus a link to the a link to the podcast MP3 file.

3. The link to each podacst MP3 is between the <link>......</link> XML tags. It will look something like:

mms://video.premiumtv.co.uk/southend/podcast/Pod 5905.mp3

3. Cut and paste this link into your browser.

4. Job done.
Or simply visit the SZ homepage and we give you RSS feed in readable/clickable format.

If you are still having problems with that concept I suggest the following

1. Remove keyboard and mouse
2. Unplug the Monitor and Modem
3. Find a large box
4. Put monitor, keyboard, mouse, and base unit into box.
5. Take box to charity shop
6. Tell them you are too stupid to own a computer and they might as well give it to a good home.

Dave/James - Do not let the minority spoil it for the majority. I guess most on here appreciate your efforts and I for feel you should continue.

True but with average attendances falling in the Premier$hite, there is no better time to act fast and try and attract these people that don't want to spend near on £60/70 just to watch a game when they can just travel up the road and watch an up and coming side for under £20.

I was in the queue on sat for nearly an hour and standing there i the baking sun with a hangover me and two others nearly turned around and left.
Now this is coming from someone that has travelled to many a far away s%&te hole to watch the blues, the reason why i do it like most fan's is that i love the club.

Now the point i'm trying to make is that i was an Arsenal ( que the abuse)fan before i moved down to this area and it was only the fact of someone taking me along with them that i fell in love with the club, now on sat if i nearly turned around i'm sure there were people that maybe haven't been before that did.

Just for the record i'm so glad i did as it was a quality first half performance.

Pity, as I was just waiting for the I-Tunes version, and I would be downloading this as well....

Unbelievable.
Yet again, some people just aren't happy, and this time they've ruined it for all the other fans who appreciate what the club are doing.
some of us don't subscribe to Blues World, and after having launched this Podcast, it gave a refreshing alternative.
Now thanks to the loud mouthed t%&ts from this site, we've lost out.

Thanks a bloody lot.

Not much point defending them then! - also whats the need to stop doing pod casts my only gripe was an Mp3 that was all! but now the toys are out the pram well everybody else who uses podcast are now put out!

f%&k me! Dave and James seem to have lost their backbones!! One person has a dig at the exclusivity and accessibility of this podcast and they throw the f%&king towel in!! If they haven't got the courage then maybe they are right to give up ... let's hope the team on the pitch show a little bit more determination!!

I can't see how Dave and James can throw in the towel after one person (i.e. me, the loud-mouthed t%&t, Mr Chapman) has a dig at them! Indeed it is unbelievable. Maybe they weren't going to carry on with it anyway and needed a way out?

Thats a real shame Dave, I think the majority appreciated and enjoyed the Podcasts. We all know that when things are going well on the pitch people will moan about every other f%&king thing off it.

I hope you and james do revive the Podcasts eventually.

What the Club actually claimed was that "with the launch of Southend United's Podcast they become the first Football Club around the world to join in the revolution".

Proof delivered that in fact that claim is incorrect and misleading:

RBS Podcast Archive

Bayern Munich have also been offered podcasts since July.

In the UK, Nationwide Conference South side Havant & Waterlooville have been offering podcasts since the summer.

There is a Chelsea site that has been offering podcasts since the beginning of August, pre-dating the SUFC version, so it's not even the UK's first, and - shock! horror! - they both offer an MP3 download ...

I thank the lord I do not know what an effing "Podcast" is and will be happy to go to my grave without finding out!!!!!!

Dave.  Without wishing to start another toy & pram throwing incident, isn't this partly the point many of us are trying to make in our own ham-fisted way, in that nobody appeared at the time or appears since to have or be taking responsiblilty for the problems on Sat, other than GK saying it's the fans fault.
wink.gif

The point I made last night about reduced POS numbers is I believe still valid, as someone else pointed out most of the games towards the end of the season were sell outs in certain areas of the ground thus reducing the number of matchday windows needed, but for those games only, not necessarily now.  Until the day I see it happen, I do not think for one moment that 4 people can be expected to serve the number of fans who will turn up in the last 1/2 hour pre game & it's also unfair to expect them to do so.

Our current success is indisputable both on the pitch via Tilly & Brush and off the pitch through the hard work of many including yourself, and some obviously feel due to this we shouldn't make any vaguely negative comments.  But if a **** up has happened people at the club should be big enough to hold their hands up, accept that & revise their planning.  I think most people, including myself, are simply concerned that we lost a valuable amount of revenue on Saturday & possibly if some of those who undoubtedly went away will not come back for some time a future revenue stream.   Will most of those who left Saturday read the official site & heed it's advice.

As for the other problem with the "podcasting" I don't understand why that seems to have become some sort of a personal agenda from either side.  There must be something I'm not getting, but frankly it seems to have gone too far.  IMHO!
wow.gif

PS I do thin the let's keep this in perspective crew are right. Name one new system that hasn't had teething problems. If it happens again I think we should complain. However can anyone on this board say they've never been in a queue at Roots Hall even when it was cash at the turnstile and standing cos I can. And I can well remember missing the beginning of games because of this and unfortunately some goals including the only goal in a 1-0 win. I can also remember not getting into one game (v Cambridge many moons ago) cos the ground was full.
Who do I blame? Well me actually for not getting my act together to get to the ground in time.

Couple of points on this topic:

- Well done for the club for being innovative with regards to using new web technologies. I'm sure the excellent service provided online has cemented support amongst younger web-savvy kids (and will do in the future).

- The snipping from Spain is sad, bitter and childish. It doesn't matter whether we're the first or 91st to launch a podcast. The fact that the club are trying to innovate is enough for me.

- Also to suggest the club is ignoring the problems from Saturday 'because they've a podcast to do' is crazy. Just because Dave goes out of his way to connect fans with the club, it doesn't mean he has responsibility in all areas running the club. Give the guy a break.

- The ticket situation on Saturday was indeed a disgrace. Let's hope they sort it out before any other fans are lost. We're playing so well on the pitch but I'm sure some won't come back because of the ****-up with the ticketing.

Do you really think it is down to one person moaning on shrimperzone? The original comment I took to be very flippant and in jest, I'm sure those in charge did as well.

Besides, criticism is a necessary evil in every vocation that we just have to learn to deal with, not roll over and throw in the towel when somebody complains. Scriv has worked hard on the media department, a labour of love at times I'm sure, and he isn't stopping this podcasting stuff becuase of idol comments on an unofficial website!! Well I'd be very surprised if he was!

There would appear to be more than this than simple criticism from me ...
