I always think when moaning about the fact we normally have small crowds, the people to get are not Southend fans who can't always get there / afford to go, rather the thousands of idiots born and bred in our town who have no interest in the club and choose to follow Spuds/wet spam/arsenal/Man Utd/Liverpool/Chelsea.

And these are the real "glory-hunters" - only showing an interest in Southend when we're doing well. They're far more deserving of a bad reputation than the likes of GHG!

I agree with HerikLarsson. I don't go to all the games now but I've supported this club for over 30 years and used to go to all home and most away games. However, family commitments creep up on you and so do finances. The way some people talk you'd think that anyone who is not a Season Card holder is a Glory Hunter. Well I went to Borient away leg but will not be going to the home leg simply because I will be in Barbados on holiday! Rest assured I will be following it on the old WiFi Tinternet whilst enjoying the sunshine and the Caribbean Sea! Will be back for the trip to North West London.

Yes I can see that finances have indeed hit you hard :winking:

On my first year, I went to all the games (Started mid season) And Cardiff, although the second time I only went Cardiff, none of the other games until after that... That was due to me having to have a parent, I was 12... Now I try to make every game, but financially and time making is harder, just going to the final isn't glory hunting; would you rather we filled up 2 tiers of Wembley than just a small few blocks of people who attend every game? Also, another note... WHO CARES?

The people you refer to also turn my stomach, but Southend is not alone. It's the same problem here in Greater Manchester where those who were born and bred in a BL or a WN postcode and should follow Bolton Wanderers or Wigan Athletic choose to follow Manure or Shi**y.

I went to Morecambe away last season, trust me there wasn't a lot of glory to be had at that game I can tell you.
I'm just grateful that anybody comes along, be it for one game,every game whatever, because it brings money into the club. I bring along a West Ham season ticket holder occassionally and he spends the second half in the bar. I dont give a monkeys because he had pays for a ticket and brings cash into the club.
