Here we go with the glory hunter ******** again. Bollocks to you and every other so-called super supporter who takes a dig at those who can't make every game home and away, friendlies and training sessions. Try getting a life away from football you sad sack ****. Life doesn't come to a screaming halt outside the Roots Hall gates and those of us who have supported the club for 35+ years might just have other things to do nowadays than just spending our every wakeing hour joined at a football teams hip.
Mm, another late night post thats best taken with a pinch of salt, but i must say TT you did ask for it.

When JP bought the rights to the cup they wanted most kick offs at that time with cheaper prices to get kids to come along. It's also half term that week so may be to do with that?

Kind of makes it even more pointless as kids not got school.

Its very odd that last week it was later. If there was any reason for it then surely should apply to all.

Does this mean that if we get to Wembley we will only take 5000 to the final .Some how I feel we will find another 10.000 plus . bl** .dy glory hunters

And the rest. We took 19,000 to Cardiff for our first LDV Final. The added cachet and proximity of Wembley would see us take plenty more than that. And if they're supporting Southend for the day, who cares?

IF we get there of course!

Agreed.
I do understand the 'Glory Hunter' gripe , but I really don't want to go to the "W place that we must not mention yet' with a crowd of 5,000 !
You never know , a good day out may turn that into 6,000 next season.

I haven't looked at figures to back this up, but there definitely felt like there was a 'Cardiff bounce' after our first LDV Final. I went to the first game immediately after it (Scunny at home) and the crowd was certainly up on what one might have expected (given that it was a Friday and few away fans made the trip). You could also tell there were plenty of people there for whom visiting Roots Hall wasn't a regular experience.

Home attendances between 2nd leg vs Col Ewe and end of the season.

Tues (Cup) - Col Ewe - 9,603
Sat (League) - Macclesfield - 4,107
Sat (League) - Swansea - 4,753

[Final played - total attendance 34,031]

Fri (League) - Scunthorpe - 4,976
Mon (League) - Darlington - 5,153
Tue (League) - Hull - 5,389
Sat (League) - Yeovil - 5,676
Sat (League) - Troquay - 8,894

Also worth noting that the average league crowd was 4,530 for that season. Take out the last 5 games and the average is 4,117.

Take it with as much seasoning as you like turkishm, I am sick to the back teeth with comments like that. Perhaps Tommy Tucker would prefer if our possible trip to Wembley was only attended by season ticket holders. Wouldn't be much of a atmosphere but at least those there would be 'Real Supporters'

I have to say I agree with you, although I wouldn't have put it quite so strongly ;-) When I was younger I used to go to every home game and most away, starting in 1982. But then life happens - you get married and have a couple of kids, money is tight and other things just have to be given priority. But that doesn't mean we are any less 'worthy' supporters - it just means that our situation dictates we have to be a bit more choosy. There's no way these days I could afford the money or the time to go to a run-of-the-mill away game, but IF we got to Wembley then the special occasion would justify the extra money and time. But anyway it's not nice being labelled a "glory hunter". These days I probably get to 8 or 9 home games a season and I have to choose carefully for the reasons above. In an ideal world I would go to every game but that just isn't going to happen. The games I don't go I am glued to BBC text commentary or Shrimperzone ;-)

By the way my comment above was supposed to be a reply to Genial Harry Grout's comment of 11.17pm yesterday. Sorry I realise now I should have hit "reply with quote" - I don't post on here very often so don't be too hard on me ;-)

You total , bumbling fool , you've completely ruined the whole thread now !
It's Glory Hunters like you that give this site a bad name !!!......................................:winking:

Oh mr Grout your a mear snip as ive supported the club from boyhood to manhood total so far 48years .I also went to Cardiff on all three visits . But I will say one trip My wife and I was given comp tickets .And travelled on a coach that only 5 of us had a clue of the player in blue .It seems the rest only went for the day trip .In fact two women didn't go to the game but went shopping around Cardiff .

I always think when moaning about the fact we normally have small crowds, the people to get are not Southend fans who can't always get there / afford to go, rather the thousands of idiots born and bred in our town who have no interest in the club and choose to follow Spuds/wet spam/arsenal/Man Utd/Liverpool/Chelsea.

So currently 5,100 tickets sold. I personally can't see it being much over 6,000. With just over a week to go until the game itself theres still plenty of time for tickets to be bought and maybe a win tonight and saturday will help sales along but those results will be very hard to get what with the lack of players at the moment.

Orient only had just over 5k there I believe last week and if we only 6k then i think thats a bit embarassing really but we have sky to thank for that and also the tickets going up to £15.

I agree with HerikLarsson. I don't go to all the games now but I've supported this club for over 30 years and used to go to all home and most away games. However, family commitments creep up on you and so do finances. The way some people talk you'd think that anyone who is not a Season Card holder is a Glory Hunter. Well I went to Borient away leg but will not be going to the home leg simply because I will be in Barbados on holiday! Rest assured I will be following it on the old WiFi Tinternet whilst enjoying the sunshine and the Caribbean Sea! Will be back for the trip to North West London.
