Threads about Sexual Practices

The Directors of ShrimperZone are receiving ever-increasing complaints regarding the recent posts about different sexual practices. It seems that people are posting threads on an ever-daring nature and trying to push the boundaries with each new thread.

It has been decided that any thread regarding sex that is judged to be over the top will be deleted as we are starting to lose members who do not wish to read posts that they feel are obscene. This is a step that we do not wish to impose but more and more adults are feeling upset at the level of filth creeping onto the Pub forum and despite calls of "this is the sort of thing we talk about in the pub" it is not going to be discussed on the Zone.

If people of a like mind wish to discuss anything sexual could they form their own PM gang and chat away from the forums.

Or you could have an over 18s pub!!! how hard is it to open another forum??? sick of being told what we can and cant type if people don't like it they can **** off! pathetic!!!

Scott pay for your own forum and you can do whatever you like, until then we have to abide by the requests laid down by the Board of SZ.com.

And before you jump to conclusions, I am a believer in keeping things relaxed, however I would prefer some clever innuendo than some slang being used in the creations of threads so that the innocent will not be any of the wiser.

Ok I will pay for another 18+ pub to be opened just give me the cost and you can have a paypal payment by the end of saturday!

Mods - Not wanting to be a tit over this but the desciption of the pub is as follows:

"All welcome, but beware not everything will be suitable for youngsters. Please, no racist or potentially libellous posts and no pornography"

As far as I can see my thread whilst I accept not to all tastes was not racist, libellous or pornographic. No images were shown all so I cant really see the reason for deleting this?

I can only assume that none of the directors can have found it offensive as all bar I think two of you voted and a few recited stories which is great.

You talk about complaints but surely the answer to those people is do not read a thread. Why should a few of us (baring in mind 33 of us voted in the last deleted thread) have to suffer.

If images that were unsuitable were being put up then by all means delete the thread, totally unacceptable but what you have deleted is nothing more than is talked about by blokes down the PUB every day of the week.

Its not for some I accept and I am sure a lot of people find it crude but its not for them. If you stop topics that are a bit crude like that then i think the pub will be a worse place and then your membership will drop.

I would personally rather see a thread labelled for example not for kids and then if you chose to read it its at your own risk.

Scott as I have no influence on here whatsoever mine was a general point rather than something SZ.com will or can do.

I am just a poster like the majority on here but appreciate the position the Board find themselves in trying to increase the appeal of ShrimperZone.com whilst also keeping everyone happy.

to be honest this has p*ssed me off... it wasn't in breach of the rules set out in the pub... and if threads like this go then i reckon the pub will be a lot quieter and it will just be the "live" crew and a few music threads.

DtS (or a quick thinking mod) put a "over 18" message on the thread, and surely this was sufficient for a thread which didn't break any of your rules. either change them if you want, or at least have some consistency, because threads like this have been on on SZ for as long as i can remember, although perhaps with not such a blunt title. As DtS says, a lot of the mods posted and voted in the thread, and so it suggested that you were ok with it until a few people complained. It seems that a loud minority has got their way about this, so I would just like to add that I think this is over the top and perhaps we can look to see how the majority of SZ feels.

Totally echo what DtS & Jon have said above.
It was within the recently revised guidelines.
It had a warning of NSfK on it.
It's only a bit of fun.

I personally think Hat-trick/Bat-trick is offensive (OK maybe not but in my opinion it's a bit sad) but you don't see me galvanising a campaign to have posts relating to this removed from SZ.

A couple of points here:

Does anyone here monitor employee web access for an organization? If so perhaps they could confirm or deny the following.....

First, I am not an an expert but I would imagine the monitoring software employed has a list of banned sites which no employee can access. I would also imagine that it scans each downloaded web page for various keywords, phrases and may also be able to detect pictures of nudity etc.

So, I may not open a thread about a certain practice but the scanning software will see it in the thread title when enter the pub. Depending on your employers internet access policy this may cause you problems.

I for one would not like to be called into an office and asked to explain why I had viewed a forum that contained a thread about female bun fum (sic).

Second, there is no requirement for anyone signing up to SZ that they are 18 or over. I imagine that many children access the site.

You can prevent your children accessing unsavoury material but would you want to stop them accessing a Southend United site (and possibly be an accessory in them converting to man Utd or Chelsea instead?)

Do you want your young son/daughter coming up to you and asking "Dad, what is female bun fum? " (sic).

The usual slack dad response of shuffling awkwardly and replying "Ask your mother" is not appropriate in this instance.

I couldn't agree more.

doesn't that just suggest that the solution is having a work friendly (but informative) title... not just delete the whole thread.

i'm no expert and this is an uninformed stab in the dark (!) but i would be very surprised if work filters looked inside all the threads... only if you open them up would they be read. i'm all for keeping the thread titles clean and safe for work

I would also add I made the title so blatent so you didnt get all the moaning of people not knowing what the thread was about.....

Are you even allowed to be on internet forums at work? Don't you have work to do.

This whole thing is ridiculous, everyone on here's an adult, I'm 17 nearly 18, but nothing on here offends me (apart from MK's dancing), I see it all as a bit of light hearted fun.

I'm positive more posters will be lost through these new rules.

It seems if you don't use the 'Live Chat' then the pub section will soon be reduntant; with even the slightest taboo topic or post is having everyone in uproar.

If it's children you're worried about then, as their parent, monitor what they are going on and/or set up a filter.

BtB.
