it's a bit strange that usually Tilly and RM are singing from the same hymnsheet... but in the last week or so we have had two very different views about freddys future. RM doing the usual Chairmans "he aint going anywhere" and then Tilly saying that he might be going for less than Luke Varney (which doesn't bother me as much as the fact that he is going against what RM said)

I have it on good authority that Tilson wanted Eastwood out in Jan, only because he was the most sellable assest, so would give Tilson the money required to strengthen the team to bring it up to Championship standard.

If Eastwood went, Tilson would have been straight in for MacDonald again, and O'Donovan.

I must state that Tilson only wanted Eastwood out because of the money it would allow him to spend, nothing to do with footballing matters. Or questions marks over his attitude...

I heard something simillar to that. Tilly was desperate to sign MacDonald but chairman wouldn't put up the fun ds or let freddy go. Or something like that. Must state that this was only talk and have no way of confirming it.

Just to clarify for you all, the clasue that has been activated, is the one that is keeping him here another year. When he signed, his contract was until this year with an option on the clubs side of a further year. That is the clause that RM is talking about.

a few posts that you have questioned certain matters..

why would we do a gentlemans agreement, as someone said it could be freddy's choice, we could have an agreement for a certain player in return for example.

when i said there is no more to say on the topic, i meant that what i said was just the solid facts i knew, i didn't want to exaggerate anything, and nor did i know anything else, so i was implying there is nothing more i knew that i could speak about.

and chemico i respect your source , fred's dad, saying no bids, but i think you may find it is a case of no accepted bids rather than no bids, i'm pretty sure those bids have been put down on the table and they are awaiting decision and negotiation from southend united.
